FluffyBun Posted May 26, 2025 Share Posted May 26, 2025 Ever since the Rifts, the past few updates were more or less unrewarding. You have a bunch of boss fights, and then more boss fights, and then these boss fights lead to gear. This of course incentivizes people to just go for boss, after boss, after boss, after boss... The game seriously needs some padding out. There needs to be things to separate the boss fights. For instance, while the creation of ornery chests give players reason to revisit the ruins, the truly "new" dangers are the red gestalt and the ickers. Meanwhile, you can easily acquire the other stuff by interacting with only the rift content (to get Dreadstone). Rifts need to feel more impactful. I think Rifts should "renovate" a bunch of old, dangerous biomes, making them rewarding for a player to retackle. Perhaps dungeon-like setpieces can randomly spawn in biomes (far away from builds, if possible) during the rifts, where you can go in, see the slow corruption the shadows wrought on the biome, go in, kill some mobs, solve some puzzles, prepare some other things, and then get some stuff. Giving players the opportunity to get new things over time will make the rifts more meaningful. With regards to the Lunar Rifts, the problem is even more apparent, because the lunar rifts do not possess anything but bosses and Brightshades. Fundamentally, the world looks basically the same with or without rifts. Furthermore, there are annoying things like Celestial Champion crown shards and Spark Arks which could really use additional sources, which could be acquired from rift-mutated surface biomes. Personally, I think devs should go through with it sooner rather than later, and add a new item specifically to prevent megabases from being affected by dungeons (dungeon redirection) to please megabasers. The game is going down the drain and will continue to do so if devs just take the "easy way out", which is spamming bossfights. Art needs time and effort, and Klei isn't providing either. When I saw how they added the big rift portals, I thought that they would head toward a raid-type thingy direction, but I guess not.
