I never liked the fact that you have to kill the Shadow Pieces multiple times just to access stronger items, especially since they can only be activated during a New Moon. The only reason I didn’t complain about it before is that it’s possible to farm them efficiently: you can kill multiple Shadow Pieces at once using Shadow Knight boat cheese.

But the Celestial Champion is a different story.

Not only is it significantly harder than the Shadow Pieces, but its drop, Enlightened Shards, has more uses than Shadow Hearts. On top of that, it doesn’t make much sense in the lore, considering that the Celestial Champion, similar to the Ancient Fuelweaver, is a final boss of the game, and his death is supposed to have an impact on the world. That’s why I believe there should be an alternative way to acquire Enlightened Shards that doesn’t require killing the Celestial Champion.

During a Lunar hail, there would now be a chance for CC crystals to fall from the sky. These crystals would work similarly to the ones used in the Celestial Champion fight, but with small changes: they would stay in the world much longer, and if you destroy them, you would release Gestalts trapped inside, starting a fight with new Gestalt enemies Magic & Warrior Gestalts.

Magic Gestalt willUses the Celestial Champion’s Phase 3 laser beam and Summon smaller Gestalts around him like in Phase 1, he will try to stay away from the player and fight from range.

Warrior Gestalt will Perform a double hit melee combo and Use the Phase 2 charge attack from the Celestial Champion also he will have a weaker version of the Phase 2 Lunar Spike.

These Gestalts would spawn in groups of 2 to 4 and would despawn after a few days if left unprovoked. Each one defeated would drop 1 Enlightened Shard.

There would also be one rare Gestalt that could spawn: the Tank Gestalt. It would have more HP, perform a triple hit attack combo, and use a slightly faster version of the Phase 1 jumping attack from the Celestial Champion.

This addition would allow players to obtain Enlightened Shards without needing to fight the Celestial Champion or deconstruct his crown, but it wouldn’t make acquiring these shards too easy. I think they could use Greater Gestalts as the  sprites for these enemies, or make them look like mini Celestial Champions one styled after the third phase for the Magic Gestalt, the second for the Warrior, and the first for the Tank.

I think if the phasmo-encapsulators were made reusable and craftable with spark arc instead of enlightened shard this would largely fix the issue.

The challenge should instead come from trying to catch new gedtalts that are powerful enough to power Wagstaff's inventions
