Request for Deploying Registry Servers in Mainland China for Don't Starve Together

I am writing as a dedicated player of Don't Starve Together (DST) to bring to your attention some persistent connectivity issues faced by players in Mainland China and to propose a potential solution that could greatly improve the gaming experience for the community.

Currently, the DST server lobby is registered overseas, which often results in Chinese players being unable to access or register servers reliably. Additionally, players who host servers using cloud services frequently suffer from DDoS attacks originating outside Mainland China. These issues significantly hinder the gameplay experience and discourage community engagement.

Given that:

1. A Large Player Base is in China: A significant portion of DST’s active players are from Mainland China, and a stable connection is crucial for their experience.

2. Tencent’s Involvement: Klei has a strong partnership with Tencent (which holds a substantial stake in the company), making collaboration with Tencent Cloud a viable option for deploying localized registry servers.

3. Improved Security: Hosting servers within China could allow for the restriction of non-domestic traffic, mitigating malicious DDoS attacks and improving overall server stability.

We kindly request that Klei consider deploying registry servers in Mainland China, possibly in collaboration with Tencent Cloud. This would:

• Enable smoother server access and registration for Chinese players.

• Provide better protection against DDoS attacks by filtering foreign traffic.

• Enhance the overall gameplay experience for one of DST’s most active communities.
