Setup Building Settings in Build Orders and Inherit Settings from Copied Buildings

I'm positive this must have been suggested before since I think about it constantly, but why can't we setup the settings on storage lockers, automation gadgets, liquid/gas filters, smart batteries, et cetera immediately after placing the build order?

When I'm playing I often see a need for a certain building such as a storage and place a build order, then I either have to fast forward or move on to do other things and hope I remember to come back and setup the appropriate settings. One option carries the pain of unproductively staring at a build order wondering when it will be finished, the other option carries the risk of forgetting my brilliant scheme when I eventually return.

Please allow me to set up the settings immediately. Also why not make copy/pasted buildings inherit the same settings as the building they're copied from?
