Electroely
Wanna start off by saying that I LOVE its addition in the Delicious Update. It changed the way I play quite a bit. I think it could use a tweak or two is all. For starters, I think it's important to compare the sources of Player Acid available. The Wollusk Hauberk is very good - leaving a trail of poison where you dodge ensures you can consistently activate Acid-related effects. The improved mobility with the Gloop Slimekilt feels amazing. The Gloop Laurels less so, since it requires that you backtrack, but it's still plenty good as is. The Gloop Top Glaze, on the other hand, I find to be pretty mediocre. The condition of killing a Rot is a lot less consistent, and the size of the pool created is way too small. Its duration is also too short to have a significant effect. I think I would have a fun time with it and the Gloop Laurels if it were better, but as it is right now it doesn't make a big enough difference during a Hunt to be worth taking over the tons of other crazy armors this game offers. The Stinger bow's acid pools are really well designed. Hitting a bullseye knocks down most enemies, causing them to stay in the acid pool created for a while and take a ton of extra damage. It's also great at crowd control from a distance (something the armors don't accomplish as effectively) and overall just a really solid weapon. Its synergy with the Gloop Laurels is alright - getting extra speed by walking over your own acid pool would be incredibly helpful for reaching Bullseye distance, but there's a minor issue where the game takes a second to register the move speed increase, making this a lot less helpful than it would be if it were instant. Overall, the Wollusk Hauberk is great for buffing yourself with Gloop equipment and zooming around leaving acid everywhere, the Stinger bow is great for racking up damage with acid pool combos, and the Gloop Top Glaze is a worse option than either of these. These are changes I'd like to see: - Increase the Gloop Top Glaze's acid pool size to match the Stinger bow and rework it to either have an additional, or completely new condition for creating an acid pool that would allow it to be used more consistently throughout the Hunt. Some examples: * On heavy attack / focus hit (with a cooldown) - simple and consistent * Every 10 hitstreak - you would have to work for the first acid pool, which will then give you more hitstreak and thus more poison pools. it sounds fun * When drinking your potion, create a permanent acid pool for the clearing - less applicable throughout the Hunt, but very effective for Boss encounters. Also has synergy with the Immorel pants and possible potion variants in the future, if those are still planned - Fix the Stinger bow and Gloop Laurels interaction so the speed boost activates immediately rather than after a delay - For better consistency, make it so the Wollusk Hauberk creates an extra poison pool at the end of the dodge. I often find my dodge stopping right as I leave the last poison pool it created, so this would be appreciated QoL Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165169-player-acid-pool-related-feedback/ Share on other sites
Tired_Awaii
Currently I think wollusk chest is a bit too overpowered and likely needs a nerf. I don't necessarily think it shouldn't have the dodge acid, but the amount you can spread is honestly a lot and the duration they last definitely adds to that problem. I do agree that gloop gear could have some tweaks done to it. I personally would love to see it become a more offensive acid set to go along with wollusk's support focus and snortoise's defensive focus. The on kill acid pools could definitely do with a size increase. I can't deny that the amount of acid pools created by the Wollusk Hauberk is a bit much, but I think the whole thing is balanced out by the fact that acid pools don't stack, so you're not getting an absurd amount of damage like you can get with some other equipment *cough* gnarlic head stalk *cough* Plus, Rots tend to spread themselves out a bit so only a few of them are chasing you on the trail of acid pools. I've been using it a lot and overall it hasn't made the game trivial or anything of the sort. I wouldn't mind a nerf to the duration of the poison pools, since the main appeal of it to me is being able to chain very fast dodges together. Though I would be pretty sad if they removed that aspect. I feel the Gloop set (among some other sets) in general feels a little badly designed. Personally, I don't like that certain armor pieces (such as the Gloop helm/legs, for example) depend on OTHER armorpieces (or being in specific zones / using a weapon like the Stinger), to function at all. But, let's focus on the Gloop chest armor. Let's tinker further with some new/adjusted "trigger" ideas for it, based on your ideas (cuz I think they are great!): Gloop Top Glaze - Spawns an acid pool when... ... you kill an enemy and/or drink a potion. Pools last indefinitely (yes, for the kill-pools too!). Pools from drinking a potion is much bigger than kill-pools. ... you kill an enemy and/or upon reaching X hitstreak. Lasts (longer duration) seconds. Moderately bigger pool sizes than now. ... you land a heavy focus hit. Lasts (shorter duration) seconds. Same pool size as now. I think the first one with indefinite pools from both kills and drinking potions is probably the most interesting one. Because: It keeps the current kill-condition (which is nice for those that like the current effect) It also gives you a pool-spawning option even when fighting against solo bosses (like Swarm). By making the pools last indefinitely, it will synergize even better with the rest of the Gloop set, which would thrive with having acid all over the place. I think the Gloop helm and legs still need additional trigger conditions and/or some bigger tweaks, but it would still synergize really well regardless. But if we got option 2 or 3, I wouldn't be mad either, as they are both consistent and easy to use. While the Wollusk chest armor is decently strong, it still isn't nearly as strong as things like the Snortoise chest armor or the extremely strong Gnarlic helm - those are more in need of some adjustments (especially the Gnarlic helm, it is rather easy to get really strong with it). I think Wollusk armor is actually in a good spot, so imo leave the Wollusk armor alone.
