PSA: There are other ways to improve old things than to rework them

It’s embarrassing because it’s bad gameplay. Like I said, menial tasks for pearl makes for a good storyline. It’s an awful experience. If the entire quest could be done on the island itself or setpieces around it, and all the other quests and interactions were optional, there’d be zero problem. 

 

Following it up with crab king is a cruel joke. I like new crab king more than old crab king, but that isnt saying much. The rest of the questline is excellent. (takes you to archives, ruins or ocean exploration for starcaller, moonstone for mooncaller, ruins or ocean for decon, (or skip with wilson)), mainland for the buried pieces, lunar island, moonstorm, then back to lunar island…now thats a quest.)

Nah man some of you don't deserve this game. It has so many great things yet you are focusing on being negative about it instead of just realizing that you're not the type of people to enjoy it, then just get over the tasks. You're not like giving actual feedback about why you hate it, you're giving me fundamental mechanics that can't be simply changed because it's the whole idea of her, and you said you don't like that.

It's like basically saying "I hate ice cream, this ice cream shop should turn into a donut shop, I want a complete rework" instead of saying "I don't like ice cream so I'm just going to tell you guys it's not my thing, so while everyone is ordering their ice cream I'm gonna get a donut down the street ok?".

Maybe Klei can add a raid boss in the ocean that mimics the old crab king. I really hope there are bosses unique on the ocean, even seasonal ones, to bring more content to sailing. Maybe mix it with the Quacken in Shipwrecked? I love bringing in contents from the old modes and DLCs. 

I liked the idea of him locking your boat, I also like him blasting us with magic.

I listed like two things I don’t like about DST (pearl quest and crab king kinda) out of the entire thing, and specificially identified my feedback (it’s a low risk, sometimes high rng, low engagement gathering quest). There is no further feedback needed.

 

I cannot “get over” the tasks BECAUSE THEY ARE A MANDATORY PART OF THE CELESTIAL CHAMPION QUESTLINE IN EVERY WORLD. If they cut pearl’s tasks to five, I wouldnt shed a tear. If they cut it to just upgrading the house once, I’d still use her island for free drying racks and hanging out. But doing ten dull, easy tasks and then following up with the crab king is a big blot in an otherwise excellent questline.
