How much beard hair do you need? Because shaving one beefalo herd gives you a lifetime worth of beefalo wool so you shouldn't need the beard hair to wool conversion

SUBOPTIMAL WILSON GAMING

I was talking generally.

Torch throw torch is better than a lantern. Grass and twigs don't spoil, lightbulbs do. And if you make 9 lanterns in a chest to get around that, that is 27 super torches you could of made conveniently instead.

Check mate :wilsoalmostangelic:

Its such a shame to see "mains" not utilising the strengths of their character, Wendy mains during the beta didnt see the power of ghastly potion/sisturn 3 to make abigail tank conveniently without needing to worry about the tediousness of making abigail kite during boss fights.

Its like do you guys even play your mains? It's crazy. Stop making your playstyle fit the character and instead change your playstyle to fit the character!

I use torch throw, is useful sometimes. But is an uncomplete skill, i mean, why the lantern reduces its range light gradually? Because, when you drop it on the ground, you need a visual reference to show you when the fuel is gone to finish. So, you need an least one more torch (assuming your not using lantern or miner hat). Also, you need all 6 skill to make it really comparable to lantern.

My conclusion: is a good skill but should be lest costly.

Well, before some one here exhibit me, I'm rookie (<1000 hr) but Wilson main (my started was wendy in dst, then wigfrid, willow...) and, I must said, I'm not using a lot the alchemy tree, only when is really really necesary or when I'm playing with my girlfriend (wigfrid main). And, also, you spend a lot of points for transmutations that are useful but not really necesary.

It's just a bait. Be chill. We cannot lose you if we want Wilson get something better.

How is my honest opinion a bait? I'm not saying anything outrageous here lol the fact it's touching a nerve is good tho... means you are in fact doubting the way you are approaching Wendy, maybe should play her with different skill loadout with a open mind and you might end up agreeing with me.

When you judge a character as "100% for a XXX style" your "rigid" word just become a boomerang to yourself.

DST is a game of resources collecting, base building and surviving. A nomadic character should have good ability for helping them collecting stuffs (Woby There, portable rack) for diminish the base building requirements for those characters (or to dimish their resources needed in long-term nomadic gameplay). Wilson's bread and torch lines only helps a few for his endurance in wild, but not enough for making him become a "Nomadic" character - or, if you feel these are enough, then EVERY characters could be a "Nomadic" character in this scenario (with your skill level which is enough to making Wilson have a nomadic gameplay).

Wilson is designed as a vanilla character with little change in gameplay mechanics apart from torch throw. His passive skills push him slightly into nomadic gameplay which suits new players who won't automatically go into base building but exploration. Nomadic character are those with convenient skills to help survival that doesn't rely on bases.

Wilson doesnt have any base building skills as such. His transmute are most useful out of the base example when you need to get twigs but there is only mushtrees about or you need rocks for salves but you only have flint on you.

Hey this is the people's forum, plus Klei is getting some nice Wilson feedback so everyone wins :wilsoalmostangelic:

The second you said this, you literally agree with everyone that his skill tree is horrible.

Checkmate.

Aye it is but it should be. Wilson is meant to be basic. A few more weak flavour skills would be nice but nothing that fundamentally affects gameplay too much like the rest of characters do.

Orrrrrrrrr the other end of the spectrum could work... Wilson should get very very powerful post-rift gear that only he can use at the end of the Wagstaff vs Charlie arc. Im talking hamlet Living artifact levels of unique power just for him.

No matter what you're stance is on the miner hat and the torch is, I don't think it's wise to mock people as rookies because they like using a torch. It's not only rude but it could cause the thread to become off topic with heated back-and-forth arguments. You can disagree with their choices but don't imply with a snarky comment that their opinion is invalid.

This is not because someone likes it or not, but because this skill point is a perfunctory product. It is not actually interesting, and the acquisition of more convenient advanced upper equipment can be said to be effortless.

get out

if this is your only argument as to keep his skill tree dull as hell, then you're no real Wilson player.

I like his dullness and you ignored my idea to give him a living artifact "godmode".

Guys, please keep the thread on-topic. These petty arguments aren't productive to the conversation.

Wilson is built for rookies. Maybe you should try a different character if you are not happy with how Wilson is performing.

Wilson keeps gameplay as vanilla as possible while still introducing insight and insight points to new players.

What klei need to do is to reintroduce exp and have all characters exp locked so you are forced to play as Wilson if you are new to the game. Have the exp be very generous tho. Like 5days survived unlocks willow and it counts the exp after you voluntarily leave a server instead of death.

I found gem transmutes really were not useful in a playthrough unless you plan to speed fly ruins and or lunar for the iridescent.

I really wanted to make a massive farm for fish bones for teeth traps but it was hard to fit that into gameplay.

Meat conversion the minerals and basic alchemy of log and twigs are always nice since can always turn 2 large meat into a gunpowder or 3 morsels.  Wilson also can be one of the best revive makers  in the early game. If you are good at setting up certain farms.

Wilsons potential is all based on the player to experiment. Embodying his scientific nature
