Hitching or something on loaded games?

Recommended Posts

So, I have a powerful pc, rtx 4090 and 7950x3d, 32gb ddr5 etc.

The game runs amazingly for me and I don't use mods.  But I've noticed that if I load a saved game up rather than starting fresh, the game seems to have a "hitch" every 5-10 seconds.  It's like all actions just stop for only a few milliseconds.  It's very annoying and I would not think this should happen with this pc.

If I was to start a fresh game and then play to the same point in time, say 100 cycles, this never happens.  Only if I quit the game and come back later.

Anyone else have this and any ideas?  I do not use mods and I do not use spaced out yet.  It's still playable but very hard to enjoy with that happening.

Are you testing on the Beta? those hitches you are describing are [almost certainly] garbage collection spikes, a number of changes are in the beta to reduce the frequency of them though to some extent they will always exist.

I am not using the beta.  Though maybe I'll test that, I'm curious if it helps a bit as that would be awesome.

BTW, you and the other developers are genius.  This game is absolutely incredible and I'm sad it isn't more popular than it is, which isn't "too" bad I suppose.

Backing out to the main menu after loading the game. Idk why but this helps me. sometimes loading into the game the first time will have it stuttering with every camera movement.

Also force any steam updates and checks. Recently discovered my pc was blocking automatic steam updates and causing problems with saves and cloud files.
