Something I Really Dislike About Wortox (and by extension Willow, and to some degree Wendy)

Recommended Posts

I think souls are a cool mechanic. I never thought it made much sense with Willow and I would've preferred if she could use ash/charcoal into embers instead or something instead of being souls 2, but I think they are very neat overall. However, I really dislike that the best source of souls and sacrifices is bugs. It personally feels very lame to think "time to harvest more souls" and then just kill some butterflies and bees, it genuinely puts me off of playing Wortox. What makes it unfortunate is that there isn't really a real fix to it, since they just happen to be the easiest, most abundant mob, which is an inherent issue with souls prioritizing the quantity of mobs instead of the quality. It also makes you really reliant on bee biomes, and even though you can just make bee boxes they are nowhere near as efficient as being swarmed by dozens of bees just for walking around, and so it can make these characters very world dependent. As far as Wendy goes, I think the idea of power through sacrifice is cool but sacrifice is a lot less interesting when it's just 20 butterflies. I would prefer if the duration of shadow Abigail got significantly increased by rabbits, birds, moleworms, and spiders, perhaps a single one of these would be efficient as 10-20 butterflies, as sacrificing these would not only be a lot less tedious but also way more interesting than just killing some bugs to become stronger.

Yes, the situation with wortox's skills is sad, as for me, it somewhat resembles the situation with Wolfgang.I don't know how much this improved the situation with soul farming, but I would like to have a skill that puts a kind of mark on the enemy (it was very useful in boss battles), which makes it easier to get souls while you beat the enemy, such a skill would allow you to depend less on soul farms.Although it's already stupid to dream, Klei won't change anything in the next 5 years hu-hu-hu

As for the shadow Abigail, I find it very inconvenient that you have to kill someone forever to strengthen her.As for me, it would be much easier and more logical if we sweetened it using the ghostly flowers that we receive to complete the tasks of the little ghosts.

There are some long term solutions for those problems, although they take a lot of resources at least they are permanent.

Having lunar storms always active also incentivizes making a boat base, which can be fun.

For Willow, it's even simpler but you need to make use of the Celestial Portal (This design isn't as resource efficient as possible don't judge me, you could also put the gates in the middle for easier access to the burning glands).

The dens don't lose decoration if you use Combustion to damage the spiders (maybe Flame Cast also doesn't count as you hitting a spider, I haven't tested it).
You get ~120 embers per dusk/night with this setup.

I mean, this is really the problem. You have to do celestial portal and build this whole contraption just to compete with bees. That was the issue in my topic, not just soul farms but also the lack of efficient ways to obtaining them through any source outside of insects which is really boring to me

Being a soul collector but in reality just having the souls of 80 angry bees isn’t very interesting to me, both from a gameplay perspective and from the idea alone

Maybe mobs with bigger health pools like beefalos could drop an extra soul?
