Suggestions and Expectations regarding Wendy"s skill tree

1. While it"s commendable that the skill tree introduces many temporary buffs beneficial to Abigail, the implementation feels problematic. Many enhancements come at the cost of sacrificing other capabilities, which might aim to adapt Abigail to different combat scenarios but ultimately creates an inconsistent experience. In some situations, the "upgraded" Abigail actually feels weaker than her base version. A potential solution could be allowing Abigail to choose between two distinct enhancement paths (e.g., Shadow Abigail for offensive boosts vs Lunar Abigail for defensive boosts) rather than implementing trade-off mechanics.

 

2. The Mourning Glory wreath crafting system presents an interesting concept but suffers from practicality issues. Most potion effects being combat-oriented conflicts with the critical need for helmets during battles. The risk-reward balance feels disproportionate, especially considering the effect disappears when removing the wreath (potentially a bug?). Additionally, it lacks team utility. A redesign suggestion: Transform the wreath into an interactive tool between Wendy and Abigail - perhaps enabling potion effects to transfer to Wendy when applied to Abigail while wearing the wreath, or allowing Abigail to enhance Wendy"s capabilities through this channel.

 

3. The current skill tree leans heavily into combat specialization, which may not align with many Wendy players" needs - particularly newcomers who often choose Wendy for survival advantages rather than combat prowess. Suggestions for quality-of-life improvements:

- Implement mental health support mechanics through Abigail interactions (e.g., mini-games)

- Enhance environmental awareness (Abigail automatically approaching in complete darkness)

- Emergency life-saving mechanics (Abigail sacrificing HP to heal Wendy)

- Improved threat management (automatic aggro redirection when Wendy"s chased)

- (Advanced concept) Potential remote control mechanics for Abigail under specific conditions, though technical implementation might be challenging

 

These suggestions come from a place of appreciation for the designers" efforts - the current skill tree already shows significant thought and creativity. The proposed adjustments aim to refine existing systems rather than diminish the work invested. With some polishing, this skill tree could become an even more compelling part of Wendy"s gameplay experience.

The current version should be done when it comes out of the test, not the revised final version. Since klei is not going to redo it completely, players will not be satisfied with it, so try to update the content later. What else can I do?
