Walter's skill point

Recommended Posts

Don't take lunar ammo affinity and slingshot bands at the start of the game. Two points cleared up there, and then later on you can drop Woby drying rack once you have drying racks set up.

Edit: Sorry I'm dumb I forgot you need 2 ammo points for ammo efficiency. But yeah just don't take bands.

I don't recommend spending points on moon bullets in the early game, you will never use them for a long time, better spend it on another useful point until you reach the end game, using the portal to change skill trees
(here my set <:)

tbh, the shockscrap/gunpowder and the dreadstone/sticky isn't all that great either. yeah there's use for them but ... idk maybe i'm too sweaty/elitist

Honestly, remove slingshot frames as well. First thing you should be doing is rushing bee queen with marble from surface and basic slingshot mods not rushing ruins. Once you have royal grip, you don't need AoE special rounds anymore as rapid firing stinger/moonglass rounds will eliminate hordes easy. I would get forager skill instead to double cactus fresh harvests to allowing you to fight melee easy if you want to without worrying about sanity.

Honey/shock rounds again arnt the best as one of the fastest bosses dfly doesn't get slowed by it. Trade that point for dreadstone.

Drying rack and biscuits i would swap to twindle and portable fire place. Extra woby food or drying food would be good skills if every mob and their grannies didn't explode with monster meat. With woby lunar affinity, you don't need to worry about woby ever starving, you passively get enough monster meat to keep her fed by basic gameplay.

Saying that the treats should be sacrificed is insane, yes lots of mobs drop monster meat but treats give you the means to create an infinite stockpile that will never go bad and rot on you. That being said, yeah, having all 3 of the tier 2 slingshot upgrade skills is kind of overkill. Pick either the bands or the frames to get rid of (the grips are too useful for speed, which is the basic slingshot's biggest weakness) and shift that point into really any of the camping skills besides Pioneer's Panache (assuming that you're not going with a hybrid melee-ranged style, the hat remains a bit on the weaker side).

I can understand treats if you have shadow woby and are going to shadow dash a lot but lunar woby is just better in my eyes.

Infinite treat stockpile sounds good on paper but it would be a skill you swap to in the late game to spam out treats then switch it out again. Definitely not a worth while early game option because its 2 skill points really.

Pioneer panache gives Walter a great deal of flexibility. Flutter strips/hard head to help collect logs for log suits/forager for double cactus/portable campfire for cooking cactus, all synergise with pioneer panache allowing Walter to fight melee comfortably now.

I feel like treats/drying rack are for if you never plan to dismount woby and strictly use range only and neglect the rest of the camper skills for slingshot skills.

Agree with the drying rack skill not being a necessity and the hat being good for some styles, but you don't need the rack for the treats to be good. Sure, there aren't too many situations where you want to ride Woby and are far from quick monster meat, but the times where that does happen really sting, like the ruins and setting up a cave base in general before you have a good idea of what's around you, and I will definitely be using the treats for those times.

I think its perfectly reasonable if you cant spec into every single specialty at once, some specialization should be the norm, or its not really a skill "tree". You already get almost every good perk.

Personally i might consider dropping the woby alignment and dodge once i get a combat beef up. The sprinting perk makes woby fast enough, and then i have more freedom.

usually I go to rush the ruins first, so i get the prototype of the cursed rounds for crafting anywhere, so I can take advantage and get the frame (then the lunar island for the prototype of the moonglass rounds)
but your strategy is still very good too!
