Suggestions for Wendy's Skill Tree Affinity

Recommended Posts

Currently, both affinity skills are dissatisfying to many players. The entire affinity occupies three skill points, yet the functional value it generates seems very limited and not worth the investment. Compared to Wolfgang's three affinity points or Willow's one Bonnie affinity point, which are purely numerical enhancements, they far exceed Abigail in terms of improvement level, cost-effectiveness, and final performance. Moreover, due to the insufficient practicality of Wendy's affinity, it fails to truly expand the gameplay content for Wendy.

Of course, many people don't think these affinities are that bad. There could be many reasons for this, such as a limited understanding of the strength of different affinity effects, or the perception that the cost of upgrading Abigail is too low (although Bonnie seems even lower x).

In summary, considering all the above aspects, I will try to make suggestions for changes to Wendy's affinity skills here with as little significant content as possible.

Lunar Affinity:

 1.   Abigail and Wendy gain the Lunar affinity. Wendy can turn Moon Shards into Infused Moon Shards using the Moon Dial during a full moon.

        New Recipe: Moonlit Abigail's Flower

6 Lune Tree Blossoms + 1 Infused Moon Shard = Moonlit Abigail's Flower

Using Moonlit Abigail's Flower directly summons Moonlit Abigail, who can attack shadow creatures.

2.    Unlock two new recipes:

        Full Moon Abigail's Flower: 1 Moonlit Abigail's Flower + 1 Restrained Static = Full Moon Abigail's Flower

Summoning Abigail with Full Moon Abigail's Flower allows her attacks to deal half of her damage as AOE to nearby enemies. If Wendy has Team Spirit 2, it deals damage to all enemies along the path.

        Celestial Abigail's Flower: 1 Full Moon Abigail's Flower + 1 Enlightened Shard = Celestial Abigail's Flower

Summoning Abigail with Celestial Abigail's Flower grants invincibility frames during her attacks. If Wendy uses Team Spirit, it also grants invincibility frames during the duration.

3.    Unlock the potion recipe "Luminous Wrath":

        Cost: Same as current.

Effect: Provides Abigail with 4 minutes of Planar Entity status, 15 Planar Defense, and 10 Planar Damage (Moonlit Abigail gains 50 Planar Damage). Converts all of Moonlit Abigail's damage to Planar Damage.

Shadow Affinity:

1.    Abigail and Wendy gain the Shadow affinity.

        New Recipe: Sacrificial Pendant

            3 Dog Teeth + 3 Nightmare Fuel + 1 Telltale Heart = Sacrificial Pendant

            Effects:

Killing a creature grants Shadow Abigail for 5 seconds (stackable).

Using the pendant on a creature in inventory kills it and activates Shadow Abigail for 30 seconds.

When Shadow Abigail is active, shadow creatures will not attack Wendy proactively.

2.    When carrying the Sacrificial Pendant:

Each attack on a Shadow Abigail-cursed giant extends Shadow Abigail's duration by 1 second.

Using the pendant on oneself reduces Wendy's max health by 75 and permanently activates Shadow Abigail.

Unlock the potion recipe "Cursed Vexation":

3.        Cost: Same as current.

Effect: Provides Abigail with 4 minutes of Planar Entity status,Abigail curses enemies to take an additional 10 Planar Damage when hit by Planar Damage (15 if Wendy attacks). Shadow Abigail increases this to 15 Planar Damage (20 if Wendy attacks).

The Sacrificial Pendant is an item that activates simply by being placed in the inventory. All Shadow Abigail-related effects are activated by carrying this item. As for the Moonlit Abigail's Flower, it is a different item used to summon Moonlit Abigail.

Regarding the idea of sacrificing Wendy's own health limit, I would like to add that I am inclined to give players more choice rather than intentionally restricting them. As Abigail's twin sister, sacrificing oneself is the boldest decision. This mechanism would permanently activate Shadow Abigail, allowing players to choose whether to continuously sacrifice other creatures or to sacrifice themselves once and for all. I believe this is a very enriching choice update. In my mind, actively restoring the health limit would cause the permanent activation of Shadow Abigail to disappear after a certain period (about a day? It needs to be considered), and this kind of choice can create more playability.

In my opinion, exchanging rare resources for excellent abilities is a reasonable design concept.
Although many characters seem to have this notion that "as long as there is a resource cost, no matter how cheap the resource, it can bring about a huge enhancement" (take Woodie and the current Walter as examples, but that's not the main point).
In any case, I believe enhancing abilities through the use of Enlightened Shards and Restrained Static is definitely a viable idea.
