Yaorin yon
The recent discussions about damage multipliers have made me realize that many people are not actually driven by the logic of character design when considering issues. Instead, they are more motivated by emotional dissatisfaction or cognitive disapproval. In light of this, I think it would be beneficial to create a dedicated post to express my thoughts and encourage everyone to discuss this aspect. Firstly, from Wendy’s own perspective. One of Wendy’s key characteristics is that she is quite frail, with only a 0.75 attack multiplier. However, when she is with Abigail, she gains an attack multiplier that exceeds 1.0. This gives a sense of “sisters united,” and it also reinforces the game’s description of Wendy and Abigail as having a “relationship that transcends life and death.” Honestly, I really love this. Moreover, because Abigail cannot detect certain enemies in the game (yes, I’m referring to those shadow creatures), Wendy is not always as combat-effective as she might seem. Of course, I actually hope that Wendy has the ability to create opportunities for Abigail to detect shadow creatures. Or rather, the essence of Wendy’s existence is to enable Abigail to fight side by side with her. Secondly, from the perspective of other characters in the game. The most straightforward examples are Wolfgang, Willow, and Maxwell. You have to admit that they actually don't have any real weaknesses. Wolfgang is cowardly, but his cowardice has no real impact on his strength. He can easily crush shadow creatures, and his double attack power means that the time he spends under the influence of the fear aura is far less than that of an ordinary person. Willow is afraid of the cold, but she can easily create stars to thaw herself. Maxwell can freely use the Dreadstone equipment or Night Armor, and he even has his Shadow Cage and Shadow Warriors, which allow him to avoid combat altogether. As a result, his maximum health has minimal impact on him, and he is even less concerned about survival than others. In summary, Wendy is actually designed to be a character similar to Wolfgang, with the change in damage multipliers being the core underlying logic for both of them. Any additional features, unless they are exceptionally well-developed to the point where they can become a second or even third defining characteristic alongside the first (good examples include Woodie, who evolved from just having beavers to having beavers, geese, moose, carpentry, and tree spirits, and winona, which I won’t go into detail about here),Otherwise are merely by-products of the core logic. Therefore, either the designers need to continue optimizing the damage multiplier system, or they need to introduce sufficiently high-quality content to transform this feature into a parallel characteristic. Otherwise, Wendy’s skill tree is destined to be hard for many people to accept. Steorra
Sorry, but our moderators would tolarent flexible standard, since it seems it is what they like as well (some of my friends shared similar feelings with me about this issue). So the "downside" argument is completely meaningless from the very beginning by its' bias. Have to say to shift the problem from Klei to "Wendy players" is a simple but effective strategy. The hatred toward Wendy was feeding as intended. Now I've seen many blame as "Those Wendy players is bad, they caused the delay of this update for 4 month". And yes, some blame toward others may got hidden and warned, but if the blame happened to Wendy players samely, it have a chance become ok. No hidden at least. Don't know what could I say about it. It's confusing. It's confusing. I think I understand everything you’ve said. I can also see the persistent effort you’ve put in and the sense of helplessness and frustration you feel now when facing management that “only distinguishes viewpoints by camp, not by civility and politeness.” I often think about how long it’s been since the test server was introduced. The development team still seems to have a clear intention of “leaning towards adopting weakening opinions.” Many people on the forum also continue to advocate a “balancing mindset” that is not conducive to the game. Is it worth continuing to spend limited time removing endless rust? The conclusion is still the same as before: if you don’t do it, there will be no change. It’s not really about making changes, but rather about not regretting inaction in the future. The DST development team today is no longer the one that used to bring me surprises every month. My persistence is just a response to the game that once gave me wonderful memories. In summary, as long as you can live with a clear conscience, there are still many good things waiting for you to engage with. For example, you could support the mods that are being developed for corrections. Thank you for your hard work, to the most hardworking and loveliest person.
