Cdn Walter-Woby main: bugs & trees, scouting, crafting, and dogsledding

More Walter-Woby inspired ideas: more bugs & more trees, scouting abilities, crafting boosts & more survival gear for all, dogsledding for some 

(Lunar/Shadow allegiance, lore implications, and backstories for Woby and the Pinetree Pioneers still to come!)
(Same as my other post: Some of the following is original ideas as a Canadian former camp counsellor, and a forever Walter-Woby main, combined with a lot of other ppl's ideas. 
I've no intent to take credit from anyone, but I've lost track of which ideas were whose!)

 - - >> Bugs << - - 

> Earthworms <
> Thrive in garden tiles & move nutrients around, improves any composting bin, useful fishing bait,
> (tentacle? depth worm?)
-> "Be careful what you feed them, they can grow fast, and prickly!" 
-> Can create/modify Wormholes (also based on diet?)
--> Worms in Crockpot => Spaghetti, for Meatballs 

> Walking Stickbugs < 
> Mimics the freshly planted Twiggy Tree Sapling, might leave eggs if left undisturbed 
> Lays Leafbug eggs instead if it relocates to a Deciduous Tree / Biome and has enough time to settle 
-> When attacked, it sways pretending it's windy and eventually falls over, and often drops a Leg
--> Molts up to 7 times between first and final forms, re-grows at least 1 lost Leg with each Molt
--> Leg doubles as a Walking Stick lasting a day 

> Mealy Bugs < 
> Mealy Bugs get into old / undisturbed food that isn't bundled, and excrete a waxy substance / Waxy Goop 
-> Waxy Goop is lesser quality than Honeycomb: 1 Refined Wax craft requires many (6? 10? more?) Waxy Goop 

> Woolly Bugs/Aphids < 
> Grows Wool and so are shearable like Beefalo, and drops Waxy Goop 
-> Could be a Dust Moth variant, fed something specific and/or kept in a cold environment 

> Fairyflies < 
> "Have you never seen them.. or have you never looked?" 
> Similar to fireflies but have a pink glow when visible, can also be used in Miner Hats & Lanterns 
> Walter can see Fairyflies & their Dust without assistance, same for Wormwood 
-> All other Survivors need the Premier Gardeneer Hat 
> Leaving trails of Fairy Dust as they move, Fairyflies are most active during Full Moons, 
-> Fairy Dust lingers under any Moon light, and dissipates after 1 segment of Day light 
> Fairyflies cluster around Lunar waters including: 
   Any Moon Dial, except during the New Moon 
   Lunar Island Hot Springs 
   Lunar Grotto Vitreoasis pools 
   All of Hermit Island / Pearl's Island

> Buttery Bread < 
> "No Butter needed!" 
-> Butterfly Wings, Egg, Vegetable, Filler 
-> +37.5 Hunger, +20 Sanity, +20 Health 
Compare w Butter Muffin & Pierogi 

> Fairy Bread < 
> Buttered bread topped with tiny colourful candies 
> "So light & fluffy!" 
-> Fairy Dust, Dairy, Egg, Sweetener or Fruit 
-> +37.5 Hunger, +50 Sanity, +10 Health 
Compare w Waffles & Jelly Salad 

> Fairy Spread(?) < 
> Fairy Bread minus the Bread, sticky sugary Sanity-boosting candy gobs 
-> 2 Fairy Dust, Dairy, Sweetener 
-> +5 Hunger, +60 Sanity over 1 min, +0 Health

>> Tree Guardians (Skill) << 
Makes Walter & Woby allied with all Tree Guards & Tree Monsters, 
Higher chance of spawning them but they spawn without attacking/aggroing, 

>> Balmy/Balmcone Trees << 
> Palmcone Tree grown in Scaled Flooring eventually produce Balmcone Scales 
> Can be used as firepit fuel identically to Palmcone Scales, or Refine into Balm to make: 
> Balmy Balm: Balm + Ice, A heat-protection cream, apply before heat exposure 
> Warming Balm: Balm + Fire Nettles, 
> Calming Balm: Balm + Forget-Me-Lots, Sanity-restoring healing item 

>> Appleberry Trees << 
> Give Berries or Juicy Berries to Birchnutters, for the Poison Birchnut Tree to lose its poison & go dormant 
> Following enough rain Appleberry Blossoms appear, later turning into Appleberries 
-> Appleberries are 0.5 Fruit and 0.5 Berry 
> So new Trail Mix recipe: 1 Birchnut + 2 Appleberries + 1 Twig 

>> Full Moon Mushtree << 
> On a Full Moon, have 1 Mushroom Planter with 6 Mushrooms ready to be harvested 
-> Release 1 Fairyfly at the Planter. 
--> If it's still a Full Moon after 1 segment (30 seconds) the Mushroom Planter will become a Mushtree 
(of the same variety as the Spore used to grow the Mushrooms)

>> Full Moon Fairy Ring << 
> On a Full Moon, have 1 Mushroom Planter with 6 Mushrooms ready to be harvested, and Glommer hovering over the Planter 
-> Release 5 or more Fairyflies at the Planter, and wait for Glommer's bouncing off ground animation 
-> Glommer's bounce destroys the Planter and causes a large cloud of many Spores 
-> The Spores are carried outwards in an even ring by the Fairyflies, 
-> Size of ring and therefore Fairfly travel time is based on # of Fairyflies, 
--> If it's still a Full Moon when the Fairyflies each reach their Fairy Ring spot, a ring of Mushrooms results

>> Survival << 
> Tracking: can get closer than usual to some prey before being detected 
> Trapping: Simple rope snare, 
> Drying rack upgrade, adding Rope & other materials, enables: 
  Double capacity for typical food drying 
  Fruit and Vegetable drying 
  Drying Hides, a multi-step process 
 
>> Campfire << 
> Walter Multitasking Skill: Can cook or craft, while singing or storytelling @ a campfire 
> Other Survivors can /sit during a Song or Story to access Base Camp Bonus: 
-> increased sanity boost around the campfire 
-> fast cooking at the campfire 
-> fast crafting near the campfire 
Bonuses end when leaving the area or at sunrise

> Crafting Station < 
> Includes storage, enables faster refining / crafting for most items 
> Extra Sanity boost when 2 or more Survivors work alongside each other 

> Simple Sling < 
> Walter back-up weapon, made from simple materials, like many Cut Grass 
> Healing item pun potential? Doubles as a shoulder/arm sling? 

> Snowshoes < 
> As seen in Woodie's cabin 
-> Prevents slipping and gives a slight speed boost on snow and ice 

> Moon Shoes < 
> Based on 90s toy 
> 2 Koalefant Trunk + 2 Nostrils + Rope 
> Traverse lunar land without lunacy effects 
> "Bouncy! .. in an awkward way" 

> Baskets < 
> Using Reeds at least, 6-slot storage, uses Hand slot 
-> Loses durability when hauling heavy/unrefined Minerals (Rocks, Flint, etc) 
-> Loses durability when Food spoils in its inventory 

> Underwater Basketweaving < 
> Use same materials at any Freshwater pool, resulting Basket has no durability and an additional item slot 

> Hides < 
"For better hiding!" 
Beefalo Hide + Beefalo Wool = Beefalo Cloak, 
Wear the Beefalo Cloak and Beefalo Hat for maximum sneakiness, like hiding from Hounds 

> Dog Harness < 
> Dog Harness made of Hide & Rope so Woby can carry an additional bag/pack OR attach to a Sled/Sleigh 
-> Also fits Tamed Hounds, to attach to the Sleigh behind Woby 
 
> Sleds < 
> Craft at Upgraded Sawhorse 
-> Simple wooden single-passenger sled, can be pulled or pushed, for travel and for fun, but only on frozen ground 
-> Upgrades: Faster, Bigger, Rugged/Reinforced, All-Season, etc 

- - >> Dogsledding << - - 

Equip Woby with a Dog Harness to attach use any Sled/Sleigh for Dogsledding 

> Archaic Sleigh 
Counterpart to the Archaic Boat, has added storage, must be found, can't be built 

> Hounds can be tamed to join Woby's pack, with special benefits: 
Ice Roads: All Ice Hound dogsled team generates their own ice road as they run, even over water! 
Trail-blazing: All Red Hound dogsled team blazes new trails wherever they go, creating new all-year-round trails/paths
