If you have any quote from the survivors that you love feel free to comment them down here. I believe Webber, Walter and Willow got the best quotes in the game, they share the most amount of information about themselves and have the cutest quotes about each other too. I think Wormwood and Maxwell are the worst ones in my opinion, Maxwell is just annoyed about everything and Wormwood won't give you almost any insight about his personality, although both characters do have very important quotes regarding lore.

As I mentioned in another post, one of my favorite quotes in the game is the Godfather reference in Willow's quote when examining the horse marble head piece.

"Great, now we've irritated some marble crime boss!" -Willow

I love the little things and mentions in quotes like this one that Wilson says "it's all piney." and Maxwell saying " I've heard them described as "piney". it just adds depth to the characters and makes them more relatable i like others character's quotes too but i find Wilson and Maxy's quotes more interesting.

I don't know if it's just because I've seen it in too many character mods or if it's just because of his personality being "I heckin' love sciencerino", but I've grown to dislike Wilson's quotes over time. He'd definitely be a Redditor if he was real.

Wendy has the most relatable quotes.

Woodie is down-to-earth and chill (except for his bizarre unexplained hatred of birds, but I like that he has a quirk unrelated to being a lumberjack). I also include Lucy as part of Woodie's dialogue, so that's an easy win for him.

I love how much of a bastard WX-78 is.

Willow's quotes are basically all just "FIRE FIRE BURN BURN FIRE BURN FIRE". It's like what Pyro TF2's dialogue probably is unmuffled.

Wormwood's quotes are easily the worst, though. It feels like wasted potential and I really wish they didn't stick so hard to having him speak in broken English and being oblivious, because there's so much lore potential with him. I don't get much of a feel for his personality, either.

Yeah dude I had this in exact thing in mind when I started playing her back in the day, but the more you play her, the more you realise how much personality she has through her quotes. She's basically that crazy girl but has some strange fixation with fires. Until you realise how she actually just loves the beauty of it. Like for example, she has a quote that says something like: I'm starting to understand what art is, when she sees something burning. Her quotes have a bunch of little things that show that she's that passionate-dumb person, like with a very strong personality. Someone who doesn't care what others think and will say what she thinks. She's that little girl who thinks anything dislikable is nasty and gross, anything that is not cute and crazy in her own way is weird. I also love that apathetic view of anything cold related, she has a bunch of quotes saying "booooo", "gross gross gross". She's got so many good ones like when examining the premier gardening hat she says "Wow, I always wanted dirt vision, said nobody ever" or when examining giant durians she says "Of course THIS is the one that grows well". I basically love the fact that she's just not very smart, but has a strong personality about things. That innocent take mixed with a strong feeling about things just SCREAMS a simpler way to live life. When examining most normal things, she'll say like, it's just a rock, that's a skeleton etc.. But when it comes to actual weird things about the constant, she's the one who talks MOST about them 100% with every single detail. She talks how monster meat has hair, how nasty it feels to hold most things, how warm nightmare fuel still is after a kill, how things go through her finger, how uncomfortable things feel in her head. And she's also basically fearless about most things in the game, specially when it comes to nightmare and atrium stuff, she'll basically say that those are just a bunch of weird people doing weird things and she doesn't care, she just wanna know how they would look after they're burned, and most of the time she'll also be like "I don't think it's a good idea to burn this" or "it's so cute I almost don't wanna destroy it" and then when examining the burnt version she'll say like "naaah, that felt good actually" or just "worth it" man that's so freaking funny. Her quote for deerclops is just "Holy Crap" which is such a simple yet so funny quote. She also has a very serious quote about antlion rage, she'll say like "Earthquake" and "Tread carefully", imposing that she has experienced this before and it's trained for it. She also got a bunch of Girl Scouts references and she's probably the one that mentions other people the most. She talks about how mismatched buttons looks like Wendy's little nose, Inflatable vest from wes is "Squeak-squeak-squeak. Ha ha where's Maxwell. This'll drive him crazy", Halloween trinket Empty Elixir is "Hey Wes! Dare you to drink that last bit", Bug net is "Doesn't fit over Webber's big head", Raisins is "Hey Wolfgang, eat one and tell us what it is!",

When you get past the fact that most quotes are about burning, you just realise how naive yet brave she actually is, and how crazy she developed from growing up in a orphanage. She definitely got a whole bunch of defense mechanisms that made her like that and I just love this little detail. She's that little Jinx from arcane.

Dumb head cannon:she can cook faster with her ligther and with most fires because thats how she prob feed herself for a long time taking scraps or stolen food and simply using the ligther to cook it

Another thing she appears to love dragonfly like everything about her the scaled furnace, the larvae even her critter version she says something like "We were meant for each other" which makes her halloween outfit of dragonfly way more adorable

Plus you need to make her fav food in order to adopt broodling so its kinda cute

I love that most of us agree that Wormwood has the worst quotes

BELLY STUFFFFFFF

IMO Wortox and Wendy have the best quotes

Wortox when he examines a merm fortification with no king:
Guards with no king, like puppets with no string.

I love that they're both very poetical about things. I love Wendy but sometimes her quotes go too far into depression I think. Wortox is just hmm *chef's kiss*.

My favorite set of quotes for an item in the game is for the nautopilot and beacon, everyone is so annoyed or confused by Wilson's terrible instructions, it's incredible. Maxwell's quote for example: "Blast it Higgsbury, I can barely read these scribbled instructions."

I feel like a lot of times people dismiss a characters personality as boring because they have a lot of quotes based on their main personality trait. But usually there's a lot more going on under the surface.

Wanda for example I've heard often described as boring because of all her time quotes, but she's also just impatient in general, and has a deeper connection with every character than they even know, due to her time looping. For example, she greets corvus goodfeather like an old friend, and she shows great sorrow and regret for pearl, hoping she could change how things would go with crab king but knowing how it would turn out. She's also more terrified of shadow creatures than most because they've been pursuing her so relentlessly.

I think most characters have a lot of depth, even if it isn't obvious at a glance.

It happens.

The discrepancy between his DS and DST quotes are just so, so big that it borderline gets to flanderization. Like yes, he did also make puns in DS, but that's not ALWAYS in your face kinda thing. I've always liked his butterfly quote, "Butterfly, flutter by." That one was cute, and actually made me think, "Oh wow, this is quite smart and funny because no one really thought you can make the 'flutter by' sentence out of 'butterfly'." He also was much, much more haughty in DS.

Meanwhile in DST, it's puns EVERYWHERE. Or the most generic damn quotes. Like again, I get he's the 'starter character whatever' thingy, but his character SHOULDN'T SUFFER for that.

Also the downgrade of some examination quotes was just very, very underwhelming. Let's take cut stone for example:

DS Wilson: "I've made them seductively smooth."

DST Wilson: "Seductively smooth."

Like, ?????????????

And the other thing I hate was how he's been made as a fool by other characters. Especially by Maxwell:

"Let's send Wilson first into this whirlpool."

"Portable indeed. Wilson can carry it."

Like, COME ON. He's NOT THAT DUMB.

Yeah that's true, I myself said that Wendy can get too depressed sometimes and that's just how it is. I've been depressed for a time of my life and those quotes are too relatable, it almost makes me remember, but now that I'm in such a great moment in life, it just pains me to keep seeing it really. For someone who never got too deep into depression, her quotes are just quotes, nothing more than that. But for someone who knows exactly how it feels to think those things, it's kinda painfull to keep seeing it.

And again, if you go past that depressed vibe, she just got insanely detailed quotes sometimes. I imagine she has a british accent and a thin voice, almost like Hermione from harry potter. My favorite from her is her Stage Performance. It's probably the best stage poem. I haven't seen Wortox's though, 'bout to check him out now.

What are some examples of his new quotes being worse? I haven't noticed this myself.

I believe it's like this cause someone else could've crafted the cut stones.

But then again, most Willows quotes still have "I did..." or "I made it ...." like the brightshade armor which is "I made it look good" so idk I might be wrong here.

He's got some very IN YOUR FACE puns, like the bun-evolent bunny king which is just.. too much.

The brightshade armor also is "This armor doesn't leaf any room for improvement". It is clearly forcing the pun and I played him recently and I also felt that way. Everything is a joke.

Most notably was the thermal measurer.

DS Wilson: "I'm one heck of a scientist." You can just feel that smarmy, smug tone he used that indicates he was proud of the invention.

Meanwhile in DST: "Mercurial."

...What.

Thulecite crown also suffers the same thing.

DS Wilson: "Fit for a king. Or me."

DST Wilson: "How's my hair?"

I could go on and on but at some point people gonna yap at me for ranting about Wilson for #628920 times.

I think a lot of us are just glad you enjoy the game and you're kinda like Thee Wilson guy of the forums lol

"Wendy got mad when we said it reminded us of her" - Webber, Bloomfin Tuna

"Hmmph, I fail to see the resemblance" - Wendy, Bloomfin Tuna

Bloomfin_Tuna_Land.webp.b3faf2d5a9bebaec3c5fbece1d75316d.webp

My favorite quotes are implicit interactions between the survivors, so these two have points there. I also love it when Wendy shows that she is indeed maxwell's niece.

(And it does remind me of Wendy)

is always a question me that how klei come up with quotes, like
do they hold group meetings to discuss about it?

or

theres that one person who is responsible for all character quotes

or even better

one person who does all the quote for that one character

Is there no option for Wes? I believe what Wes said is the most interesting quotes (just kidding)

Unironically, I've accidentally put Wes there for a whole day. When I woke up the next day I realized my mistake and took the option out. Also, I had forgot about Webber, yes, even when I myself talked about how his quotes are one of the best in the game. It just goes to show how we forget about Webber so much and idk why is that.

Actually, I quite like the character Webber in terms of the story background and character settings. But in the actual game, I'm not very fond of him. Many public servers and my own computer can't handle the pressure brought by plenty of spiders:wilson_cry:.

Yeah, lovable character that unfortunately melts servers due to too many spiders.
