Ideas for Aesthetic Improvements to the Mourning Glory 1

Recommended Posts

The butterfly skill has been the subject of much controversy—it traps butterflies between life and death, repeatedly tormenting them, which seems somewhat cruel and may also be a desecration of life and death.

Another reason is that it primarily serves the Shadow Sisterhood 3, with little utility beyond that, so why not incorporate it directly into the Shadow Branch? What I mean is, as a non-affinity skill, it should not be exclusively useful to only one side.

And here are my thoughts: Wendy can craft a Ghost Moth using 2 Mourning Glories, a new creature which born from death and seeking for death.

They have no drops. You can murder them in your inventory to assist Abigail in transforming into Shadow Abigail, or you can choose to release them. Upon being freed, they will perish after 60 seconds.

During this time, they will attempt to fly towards Abigail and slowly circle around her at close range, with a maximum of five Ghost Moths encircling her.

Ghost Moths have 1 health point and will not provoke aggression from any creatures, but they can be killed by AOE attacks from other creatures, including Abigail's.

Ghost Moths are natural sacrifices. When they die in any manner, they increase the duration of the nearest Shadow Abigail.

If you release them during combat, you will witness them flying towards Abigail in swarms and being killed by her AOE, creating a bizarre spectacle.

What if Abigail lost her AOE ability (when she has transformed into Gestalt Abigail)?

If Abigail cannot kill them, they will fly around her, entering into a brief symbiotic relationship.

During this period, they will borrow Abigail's power to deal AOE damage to surrounding creatures. Their damage is the same as that of regular Abigail, and it also inflicts a vexed effect.

Since Ghost Moths do not provoke aggression from other creatures, enemies will target Abigail when attacked by Ghost Moths. When Abigail suffers an AOE attack, the Ghost Moths will be destroyed.

When Gestalt Abigail is encircled by Ghost Moths, she will switch to the combat strategy of regular Abigail, approaching enemies and using the Ghost Moths to inflict damage on them.

In other words, it allows you to temporarily convert Gestalt Abigail into regular Abigail by consuming Mourning Glories, but it is countered by AOE attacks.

Ghost Moths are fragile, beautiful creatures with fleeting lives. Created by Wendy, they inherit her will—a yearning for death and a deep dependence on Abigail, which explains their aforementioned behavior.

Excuse me for not being good at expressing myself in English. Thank you for reading!

This sounds cool. I started to wonder what would be the planted result of this moth? You know, to planet a moth/butterfly is a tradition of DS world...

Thank you very much for your support!

But I hadn't thought about planting them. They don't have actual flesh and will quickly dissipate into nothingness as time passes, and once released, they can't be caught back with a bug net. They're more like... the Woven Shadows.

If possible, perhaps they could be grown as ornamental plants? Or maybe we could add a more practical function to them, where planting them yields Mourning Glories.

But considering this is only the first skill of the Mourning Glory branch, I'm not sure if it would be inappropriate to give it too many functions (of course, I personally don't mind).

What a lovely idea, and moths really fit Wendy's character setting. They plunge into the flames for the light, just as Wendy came to the Constant for Abigail.

In some cultures, moths symbolize death, bad news, the souls of deceased loved ones, and messengers from the other side ... I know these might not align perfectly with your idea, I just wanna say that moths really evoke a strong atmosphere!

Yes this could be the most touching thing for me, the atmosphere of moths is great if we consider their hidden meanings in some particular cultures. Thanks for pointing out this!
