Howlitzer + Wortox's Lunar Swindler idea

I think it would match Wortox quite well as a trickster that uses decoys to create distraction for attacks from safety

would be cool to undust an endgame item that you only earn after conquering the constant and all that's left is replays and creative projects

+ It still costs hounds teeth but you have more freedom with it for fun

Personally I dislike current Lunar Swindler, but to understand why
we need to compare it to Shadow Harvester and already existing items

What makes Shadow Harvester a well designed perk?
it encourages getting up close to utilize soul-hops offensively
which feels good because the player is rewarded with increased damage
if we respect and master attack patterns of our enemies

and I love it because it utilizes Wortox's abilities in a creative and fair way
while also rewarding hours of our struggles to unlock the void gear

+ functions as minor alternative to AoE skills from naughty tree
if one wishes to commit into "Kindness" branch

 

LS on the other hand allows to dodge once and hold F for very long period of time
which is very uninteractive because the effect that is just boosted copy of bone armor
allows us to straight up ignore a lot of bosses/enemies

I think the recycled effect of already existing item, lack of bonus gimmick and removed need to respect incoming attacks contributes to the perk feeling like a placeholder for lunar affinity because there was no better idea

I don't mind Lunar Swindler being the safer option, but I believe Howlitzer could execute that role much better because:
-It offers unique combat experience
-Would be more proactive, because the player will have to maintain "hop, 3 shots, hop" rhythm instead of holding F in place for 30 seconds
-Is safer but requires maintenance, without excessively dooming your stock of hound teeth
which is Howlitzer's the greatest problem, not to mention that Gloomerang is much more accessible

Also I think that Howlitzer deserves this buff because it comes online much later and requires more time and work even after unlocking it and Wortox's skilltree is a really good moment to give this item some love

if we applied rules from my suggestion we would use:
20 Teeth and 20 Souls instead of 60 teeth to deal 4k damage

 

 

Seems like a pretty big downgrade to how it even is right now.

The Wortox affinities seem to be lacking something to me, but I don't know what I'd replace them with. And I haven't seen any suggestions that I thought were improvements to what we have now.

That and this is still based heavily on getting Reverb, which I also don't like getting forced to get. If you get an affinity, you pretty much need to get Reverberation.

Making this based on the Howlitzer also seems horrible to me. You probably killed every single boss in the game at this point. Congrats, here's access to your affinity item!

I'd just go shadow for the Reaper 1000% over this.

In terms of offense you can't really make it better than Reaper without powercreeping it

I just want an alternative playstyle that undusts an underutilized endgame item for fun instead of mindless facetanking as a "perk"

It's more about experience than efficiency because again: You get void gear relatively early and it's hard to top it and lunar affinities are kinda flawed when it comes to choosing them in early game vs shadow gear

but if you notice currently lunar affinities are very late game oriented like Woodie and his full moon protection or Winona's that requires long set up and hinders her early game unlike deal with Charlie that gives her flexible teleports right away with wormholes

I would rather have fun with Howlitzer from time to time, rather than stick with Shadow Reaper 101% of the time because it's simply superior and more fun than double bone armor from etsy

 

Tl;dr: If we can't make something practical/good because we already have things we could ask for and there's more slots than necessary

then at least we can fill the gaps with something fun especially that DST worlds can exist way longer than the hours we spent on crossing out every giant for the first time
