My first run with Wendy's Skill Tree

Recommended Posts

Here is a video showing off my first time doing a run with Wendy's Skill Tree. I wanted to rush the shadow pieces, but I did fail at my goal. That being said, I gained a ton of knowledge from this run and I plan to try it again in the future. This was recorded when Sisturn 4 was a thing and it increased your max hp to 1200, so this video is extremely outdated. That being said, I'm still very proud of this run and can't wait to try again. I hope you all enjoy.

I spoiled it in the beginning, but the first attempt ended in me dying. Every other attempt was me trying to do the shadow pieces fight as if I didn't, so that's why I don't consider this a successful run

The edited part before the shadow pieces fight has my final rollback where I do the full fight

*is my final rollback

Ok, I see.

Really cool to see the Bishop last strategy get pulled off. I forgot that it means you don't even need speed boosts, or better armor than football helmets.

Yeah, the minimum speed bonus you need is a road, in order to dodge the shadow rook's phase 2 attack, which can be easily fixed if I used my Beefalo. I might fight the shadow pieces in this order going forward because, if done properly, it can be really safe fighting this way

It makes a lot of sense to, for the characters that can do it.

Though not sure if it obsoletes the Rook last strategy or not, if you have the ability to do both. I know the Rook has 33% more health, but are their attack cooldown windows the same? I don't know off top of head.

Bishop's attack period is 12 at stage 3 while Rook's attack period is 5, not counting the growl I'm assuming.

Hmm, that much? Thought they were closer.

I do think it has to do with the growl. If the Rook growls near the end of his attack period, he has to wait a bit more before attacking. That's why the times feel a lot closer than they actually are.

Here's a video showing the rook phase and how the growl extends the time it takes for the shadow rook to attack. Also, the Rook attacks on top of you whereas the bishop teleports away from his attack, meaning you can attack the rook faster

You get about 6-10 hits on rook after his attack cycle, whereas you can get 8-10 safe hits on the Bishop before you need to back away so Abby can take aggro. Whether you feel is worth it or not, I'll let you decide. I do with to try this again with a Beefalo this time to reduce the chances of me dying and having the speed boost necessary to make absolute sure Abby takes aggro.

Knight also has a similar thing. It's pretty much a taunt that scares followers and awakens nearby shadow pieces still in marble.

Bishop also does it.

Knight bows, and Bishop flutters its... wings?

Yeah, the other pieces do growl, though I don't think they're as crazy as the rook's. The Knight's high damage, range, and attack speed makes it not worth fighting in the first place, while the Bishop has so much time before it attacks again that the growl isn't really that meaningful compared to rook. I think if you force Abby to be behind the rook during the fight, you could fight the pieces smoothly.

About the same number of safe hits on the Bishop makes it absolutely worth it, since the bishop has 25% less health than the rook.

Yeah, it also makes fighting on an untamed beefalo a lot safer as the Bishop's attack is long enough for you to unmount and remount to reset the buck timer.
