Walter idea: portable alchemy engine

Recommended Posts

If you want to go full blast with a wanderer playstyle walter, he should have an easy way to go around crafting new stuff without constantly crafting an alchemy engine.

My suggestion is a [Pinetree pioneer handbook], which he sometimes mentions in quotes like the rowing fail.

The way the handbook works is that when dropped, it opens, letting walter craft stuff. The handbook has 20 uses for prototyping things before it combusts.

It costs 2 papyrus and 1 pinecone.

the title led me to believe this is a terrible idea, but the explanation is really good! i love that the pinetree handbook is being used now. and yeah i agree with

If this manual only helps unlock basic survival, combat items, and a few little things exclusive to Walter, then I'd agree.

because it was pretty silly that walter needed an alchemy engine to craft marble rounds, which is his best early-game ammo. not being able to craft his exclusive portable tent without a science machine also feels silly imo.

Some of his unique equipment should indeed be unlocked through the manual, and I think this manual should be available when he comes out.

probably not. Idk the constant is weird. at this point it was probably a Wagstaff thing

if wilson invented the seafaring science lab i think his stupid gnoggin is capable of inventing a bunch of rocks with 2 gears.

also, wickerbottom is already a walking portable science machine, so its not taking away much.

didint wilson literally invent the science machine?

he did but only following someone else's design(wanna say wagstaff but it could be webber's dad and only translated to wilson throguh wagstaff, not sure)

so having science unlocked for wicker is actually pretty great, if walter had the same option as long as he is carrying a handbook that would be super cute. just lean into "knowledge is power"

I like the idea of more portable stuff but this feels like it steps on Wickerbottom's toes a bit too much. Plus it's already easy enough to just prototype things and then have those items unlocked when you're wandering around.
