aidankocherhans
Many people consider the effects of the naughty and nice inclinations, aside from the monster tag removal and overload protection, to be downsides. Is that the design intention? It seems to me like the effects are meant to balance out of you play around them properly Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162441-are-wortoxs-inclinations-intended-to-have-downsides/ Share on other sites
Y0sH
I think they're meant to have pros and cons of either inclination for example: Nice- Pros=More self healing and team healing benefits, Not a monster to neutral mobs and able to revive teammates Nice- Cons= Less ability to farm multiple souls at one time (bees, spiders etc) and increased negative sanity from eating souls. Naughty-Pros= Able to eat souls without sanity decrease, souls and decoys do damage to mobs with an increase depending on how many souls held increased Knabsack Damage. Naughty-Cons= Unable to revive teammates, no sanity increase on dropped souls, Monster tag, less self healing. With the most recent update the Devs are trying to loosen up the build options given to players allowing for more mix and matching in builds and rewards neutral picks as well. OMEGASCRUFF
I don't think it's important so long as they're well-balanced and, ideally, not the most game-changing features. But yeah it seems to be the intention since the beginning. It's just not in a good place right now with the last update to them. I made a thread about the situation a little bit ago, but it's already 5 pages down because of all the Wendy-posting, and it's impossible to tell if a dev has seen it or what their opinion is and why to begin with. So I don't know what is going on about this. I'll bump it once things slow down a bit. They changed the affinity/Neutral investment to affect your alignment and make unlocks easier, but I don't really see what it's supposed to do in practice. None of my several different builds were changed by this, and I don't really know that I'd want any of them to change to begin with, so... I don't get what the point of this update was. 3 of 4 of the Nabsacker and Lifted Spirits skill branches are generally what you're going to take anyways, and the other skills have 2 pre-reqs to begin with, so you're generally reaching the 5 point unlock no matter what. I could only come up with one Nice build that is affected by this update that takes Soul Decoy III, but it's dropping Overwhelming Greed in favor of Pleasant Pastorale and requires I take an affinity, and I don't think I'd do this in practice, personally. I guess you also retain Nice now when taking Soul Bastion II over Life Bringer III with Soul Decoy and Overwhelming Greed and an affinity, which I guess is ok-ish once you have Lazy Deserters set up, but I'm honestly not sure I would ever see this done in practice when Soul Bastion II is only really high value in larger servers. I guess it's a mildly positive change then? Very inconsequential most of the time but I don't think it should be reverted or anything. It's just a little niche I think in practice. Y0sH
1 minute ago, OMEGASCRUFF said: They changed the affinity/Neutral investment to affect your alignment and make unlocks easier, but I don't really see what it's supposed to do in practice. I was in the same boat last night trying to see what impactful change it really made to the strict nature of the build structure. It seems to be a very small change and a subtle push to take some neutral perks before dropping the remaining points into your decided inclination. For example: Dont pick your affinity right off the bat. Start with 2 Neutral Perks= Impromptu Flautist and Pleasant Pastorale. This allows you to only have to pick 3 skills from either Nice or Naughty to remove the Path lock. This in turn allows you to get up to Soul Bastion 2 AND Soul Pierce 2 while only picking 1 non path perk (Knabsacker, Lifted Spirits,Life Bringer 1 or Soul Decoy 1). Leaving you with 3 Total points left. Now in this example with both Soul Bastion 2 and Soul Pierce 2 active you can either go full Lifebringer 3, Decoy 3, Soul Jar and Convetois Collector or Lifted Spirits 2, Capricious Movement and Reverberation. OR a mix of two skills and a Affinity that will bridge you to whatever inclination you want. Ie: Lifted Spirits 1 and 2 then Lunar Affinity to a Nice inclination. I understand this can get a little confusing but I'll try to make a video better explaining the subtle but noticable difference this update made Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162441-are-wortoxs-inclinations-intended-to-have-downsides/#findComment-1776701 Share on other sites
arubaro
Is interesting and balance how you interact with souls with the perks of each branch I wish more skill trees have downsides Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162441-are-wortoxs-inclinations-intended-to-have-downsides/#findComment-1776724 Share on other sites
