Catapult 2.0
Foreword: This will be a long post that will address the issue of Wobby's rivalry with beefalo and Walter's lack of Scouting-related skills, and most of them are derived from existing game mechanics that should require minimal effort. I'm a 4.8k hour all-character player, and I've had 200 days of save days playing the beta version of Walter, and I've beaten both the Celestial and Fuelweaver in single-player, so my insights about Walter are somewhat reliable. Status analysis: Walter's character traits are not only Slingshot and Wobby, but also his identity as a Boy Scout, but the skills related to the Boy Scout themselves are not easy to use, and there are no skill tree branches to strengthen, which makes the current Walter boring without the high attributes of the Slingshot. Wobby's skill module is a great way to continue the Boy Scouts, Walter is the captain, Wobby is Walter's Scout Troop Troopers, he teaches Wobby various Scout skills and awards medals, and Wobby is also willing to play Boy Scout games with Walter. The designer said that wobby and beefalo will no longer be a substitute relationship, but Wobby can only be an early replacement for beefalo at present. The Speed Medal does give Wobby the possibility of surpassing Beefalo's speed, but starvation's ability to cause Wobby to slow down and turn back into a little Wobby makes her less convenient than Beefalo in the late game. The Medal of Courage and Companionship only solves the problem of resilience, but a well-trained beefalo who will never throw Walter off can protect Walter from injury, compared to Wobby's absolute loyalty and bravery. If Wobby wants to sever the layer substitution relationship, it should be able to do some of the shortcomings that Beefalo can't do or are good at, rather than competing with Beefalo's advantages. Walter's affinity skills are all about bullets that need to be unlocked by the tech station, so they can hardly do anything until the rift is opened (none of the characters' affinity skills are completely useless in the early game). Since Walter doesn't have an affinity for wobby, this part of the gap is a good place to add skills that can be used in the early game. Don't forget, the Wobby branch's original five I.-level abilities have been combined into one (which I'm happy with), and Walter is now the character with the fewest skill points. And the functional design of the bullet skill branch is very repetitive, a variety of bullets are just to hit the same damage in different scenes, but each bullet needs a skill point to unlock. In the late game, players will ignore the material cost and only use one or two output bullets for inventory management (for example, I only use glass bullets and gunpowder bullets in the middle game, and only dreadstone bullets and affinity bullets in the late game). It is completely possible to merge bullet skills in pairs, and spare more skill points to make wobby branches. Skill Design: Skill Branch Diagram (sorry, I'm not good at this, it's a bit sloppy) Basic part (because there will be 6 new medals for Wobby below, a total of 11 old ones, so some basic modifications are needed to pave the way) The Wobby medal board can be as portable as a camping tent, and you can retract and adjust the medals worn by wobby at any time. This will allow Wobby to achieve different functions at any time on different occasions, and the pain points of Wobby are the same as WX-78, although there are many functions, but they have to be replaced at home, resulting in the uselessness of chips in many special occasions. I'm a veteran player, and I won't forget what a stupid design Wolfgang had built gyms all over the world after the first rework, so please don't repeat them. Walter can speed up Wobby training when wearing a Boy Scout hat. I had racked my brains about how to make this hat, which had so many skins, useful without merging with other equipment, but no matter how I designed it, it couldn't compete with the helmet or the Void Hood, so I tried to make it a pre-game item and tie it to Wobby Right-clicking on the Boy Scout hat worn (like Maxwell) will bring up the badges panel, but can only modify and wear Class Ⅰ medals. If the first comment was not to be adopted, that might be an alternative. Merge the bullet branch in two, the specific plan is in my previous post This reduces the four pointable skills and makes more room for the medal skills. It can also allow players to have three more skill points than the original on the premise of full slingshot branch points, bullet system II. and affinity bullets, and use a total of 5 skill points to choose more abundant Wobby branches.https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/161563-the-rounds-branch-should-cost-fewer-skill-points-merge-every-two-new-rounds-into-one-skill/#comment-1765617 Medal Section: Increases the base number of medals to 8. If Wobby wears two medals of the same type at the same time (e.g. both Speed Medal I and Speed Medal II), wobby will be able to gain the Extra effect of that type of medal (hereinafter referred to as "Extra Effect", and the original effect becomes the "Base Effect"). If the player wears two of the same medal, they will need to spend three wobby skill points, but only get some effect boosts, which is boring and not worth it Old Medals Speed Medal Base Effect : remains the same; Extra Effect: Double Mounting: Walter can use Wobby to carry another player to move, at this time the state is very similar to riding a beefalo with a heavy load, unable to attack, and the player in the back row will immediately fall down after taking damage. If you're playing solo, you can also put heavy objects in the back row so that Walter doesn't get your hands and body occupied. Courage Medal Base Effect : remains the same; Extra Effect:Riding on Wobby, if Walter is at full health, he will gain 12sanity/min of regeneration. Walter will be scared as long as he is not on HP, and each point of HP will have a 0.2sanity/minute deduction, up to a maximum of 12. And he is not happy about his health, and he should make up for it. Partner Medal Basic effect: When wearing a Level II medal with full progress, Walter will no longer be thrown down no matter how much damage he takes.; Extra Effect:Wobby no longer dodges Walter in combat, and provides Walter with 15% damage reduction when riding Wobby. Pickup Medal Base Effect: Pickup some faster (as fast as a Shadow Minion) Extra Effect:Automatically collects various resources.e.g. as long as there is a slot in wobby's backpack with grass in it, he will actively collect grass within a radius of 40 around Walter until the slot reaches the maximum collection limit of 40. Digging Medals Base Effect : remains the same; Extra Effect:Walter can give wobby an item that can be dug up, and the probability of wobby digging up the item five times after that increases threefold. New Medals(The new medals include 3 Big Wobby Medals (the first three) and 3 Small Wobby Medals (the last three)) Swimming Medal Base Effect :It is possible to swim in the shallow sea on a wobby. At the same time, Wobby is extremely hungry and swims very slowly, with only 5 movement speed. Walter will get humid at a rate of 5 points/s, which can only be avoided by rain gear on the body parts. If attacked at this point, or if the wobby becomes smaller, Walter will immediately fall into the water Promotion method:Boost according to the time of riding the Wobby swim Promotion Effect:Slows the hunger rate of Wobby while swimming, initially deducted at a rate of 5 hunger/second Extra Effect:Wobby will rescue Walter from the overboard, and Walter will not be deducted from his health limit. Honor Medal Base Effect :Walter can ride on a wobby to perform actions such as opening containers, cooking, lit lights, jumping wormholes, collecting honey, and more. When proficiency is low, Walter may get off wobby while performing these acts. These were inspired by a mod in the Workshop-3255665500. Promotion method:Each time these behaviors are performed, they are boosted, and the same behavior has a 2-minute cooldown. Promotion Effect:Reduces Walter's chance of falling from 80% to 0% after training. Extra Effect:It is possible to ride on Wobby to open Wobby's inventory and feed Wobby. Endurance Medal Base Effect :Increased the maximum hunger value of the big wobby. Promotion method:Each feeding of the wobby is increased according to the satiety level of the feeding. Promotion Effect:Increased the maximum satiety of large wobbys to a maximum of 125. Extra Effect:Wobby starvation slowed by 33%. Solidarity Medal Base Effect :When Walter sleeps, little Wobby will also enter the tent to sleep with Walter, and Walter will recover faster, especially Sanity, and his hunger will also drop faster. Promotion method:Boosts with increased sleep time Promotion Effect:Increases Walter's recovery speed during sleep by up to 2.5 times. Extra Effect:After Walter finishes telling a story, little wobby will cheer for Walter a few times next to him, and Walter will directly reply to 50 energy points, which is only one chance a day. Transport Medal Base Effect :Walter can command little wobby to bring the contents of the inventory to the nearest medal board, and wobby will return to Walter after placing all the contents in the inventory on the ground. This will take a certain amount of time, and the time it used to take is calculated in a similar way to Merm's return to the nest outside of the loading range, i.e. (time = straight-line distance between the two places/wobby's transport speed). When wobby needs to return, he teleports directly to the vicinity of Walter as Walter's location may have changed. Promotion method:Increases as transit time increases. Promotion Effect:Increased the shipping speed of Wobby from 6 to 15. Extra Effect:It is possible to specify the location of the transport (like the map jump in wotox). Hunting Medal Base Effect :Right-clicking on a critter that can be caught by a trap will command Wobby to catch it in his inventory, and Wobby will have to hang around the critter for a while before he can catch it. Cannot be used when starting a wobby in hiding in danger (can be affected by the bonus effect of the Medal of Valor) Promotion method:Boosts after each successful hunt. Promotion Effect:Reduces the time required for hunting, starting with 1 minute and a minimum of 3 seconds. Extra Effect:When there is a suspicious mound nearby, little Wobby will run to the side and call out to guide Walter. When Walter is guided, each mound = three mounds will be turned over to find prey faster. Wobby Affinity(The shape of the Faction Affinity Tree is a reference to Willow, who, like Walter, has only two branches (bernie and flame).) Shadow Wobby Effect: 1.Can feed Wobby nightmare fuel, 1 nightmare fuel = 1 monster meat = 18.75 hunger; 2.Big Wobby can be upgraded with spear/one-man band instruments, like Hutch, but solo instruments can be provided for a longer period of time. More effects (optional): Can feed Wobby Pure Horror, which locks her hunger at 50 for 10 days. Bias: Mainly to save materials, which is convenient for the early game. Luna Wobby Effect: Little Wobby can be upgraded with nightmare fuel/sapphire when the moon is full (just like Chester) and can be turned back with the moon dial disc when the moon is dark (like Abigail) More effects (optional): The little Wobby can be upgraded directly through the Elastispacer/Spark ark design to get infinite stacking/10x freshness, and you can use the deconstruction staff on the little Wobby to turn her back and take things out. Bias:It is mainly convenient to use, and there is also a good space for use in the later game. Balance and rationality Characters who currently have skill trees are all good at outweighing their disadvantages, and their disadvantages are all minor (except for Wormwood, who can also have quality of life and combat after acquiring the skill tree). And Walter has shortcomings comparable to Wes (see my article for specific analysis), although the slingshot complements his combat ability, Walter also needs some quality of life abilities to make him more interesting, I think Walter's shortcomings are worth exchanging for these.https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/161682-if-walter-can-mitigate-some-of-the-original-shortcomings-first-it-may-be-easier-to-adjust-the-balance-of-the-slingshot/#comment-1766910 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162142-woby-skill-branch-that-combines-boy-scout-characteristics/ Share on other sites

Lee lol
I have hardly played Walter, because I feel that Worby is too useless compared with beefalo, especially when you still have Chester. Your skill tree design is so interesting that I want to play Walter. I have always hoped that the game can add more interaction with pets, such as training, fighting and nurturing. The swimming part is very interesting, but it feels like a big project to achieve; Transport and hunting medals are both practical and interesting! Very good design. I heard from the official that the number of people playing Walter is about the same as Wes. I hope that more people can play Walter after the skill tree. Catapult 2.0
This is a post about a combination of the Boy Scout trait and the Woby skill branch, with both balance and the total number of skill points in mind, and I hope it will be adopted Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162142-woby-skill-branch-that-combines-boy-scout-characteristics/#findComment-1784269 Share on other sites
