ArtiTheFool
1. What it does well The things that the Wortox Skill Tree does well is having an interesting gimmick, while still being simple to understand. Most skill trees don't quite have a fun gimmick like this, being able to choose an inclination allows for much more expression for each player's playstyle, whether they are more of a fighting Wortox or a support Wortox, no group feels left out or disappointed for the most part. Additionally it also solves things that would otherwise make players feel uncomfortable, like the Soul Jars solving soul storage, and the Nice Inclination solving being a monster. 2. What it does poorly The thing that the Skill Tree does poorly is freedom, having to spend 5 points to unlock the skills is absurd, don't get me wrong, I understand that it is supposed to encourage the player to choose a side. However, 5 points is way too many, if you want to have an actually good setup while still having an inclination you're likely spending most of your skill points on the Naughty or Nice side of the Skill Tree, making it almost impossible to have Neutral or Affinity perks on top of the skills your already trying to unlock. Additionally the affinities are bad, having the player require to use an item (That isn't even character specific!) to use the perk is garbage. Finally, the knapsack is just not all that useful, the damage is fine, but quickly outclassed especially when your likely not even going to reach it's damage cap by the time you could have a hambat for example. 3. How to improve it I think there are some very simple solutions to all of these problems. Firstly, either A. reduce the amount of required perks to 4, or B. allow neutral skills to count towards the lock's perk requirement. Secondly, change the affinities so they aren't reliant on certain items and can instead be used by "infusing" a soul with a certain aligned material, and using it will grant that buff or just rework the affinities entirely. Lastly, rework the Knapsack to have an area show up when holding right click, upon releasing any items or small creatures (Butterflies, Bees, etc.) will be funneled into your inventory and will cost a soul if the area is far away, as if you were spending a soul to teleport those items into your inventory, unless its close, in which you'd just use the knapsack normally. I think it would solve the tedium of trying to get bottles early game while still not being a definitive solution since you may still just get unlucky.
