Tarnishedmax Posted December 7, 2024 Share Posted December 7, 2024 After playing around with the new patch Walter combat is borderline perfect, the slingshot feels extremely good and fun to use, specially with the aim + ramping up combo while also doing a LOT of damage but not being broken since max damage Walter still does less damage than a void cowl and reaper (which is a good thing because this is a ranged weapon we talking about) and he finally completely surpassed the gloomerang, for the people that say he is just "pressing F" i ask you to actually play a world with him and genuinely see how fun preparing for matchups and executing plans, hotswapping between ranged and melee is instead of just spawning dragon fly and giving yourself 30 icker rounds. I think its kinda weird this obsession over saying he is pressing F when characters like Maxwell, Wanda with a weapon that outranges every mob and hits like a truck while using night armor for free or Wolfgang basically one shotting like half the mobs in the game arent more than pressing F too, its really easy to say a character is boring when you dont even play them. Anyways, i think the slingshot is in a perfect spot and should NOT be nerfed or even buffed further, it genuinely feels very balanced compared to what everyone else can do, the issue now comes with the rest of Walter´s kit, Lunar side is kinda lame despite them already solving his combat/boredom issue but now i think we deserve some more "spicy" stuff for him, more utility rounds and personal perks mainly, i still think its really sad how his 3 utility rounds are just different flavors of slow downs when they could be SO much more, i also really dont like how his skill tree is essentially JUST the slingshot, he should waste less skills on specific rounds and just have a couple things about him being a boyscout, i know Klei is capable of making entire new skills (just look at Wendy being able to drink potions and having personal touch stones) so why hasnt Walter gotten some cute stuff? better tents or just silly new mechanics, just to name a few. Woby is going in a really good direction, i genuinely REALLY love fetch now, even though she is still kinda slow to pick stuff its nice to have her passively just picking stuff up, this is specially helpful in the ruins or just messing around in base, her being trained faster is good and getting sanity for just mounting her just rocks, i dont really like the bravery badge because it kinda just makes her feel like a worse beefalo? but its alright i guess.
