Walter: "Seedshell Rounds" - Hard to collect but very powerful rounds

Recommended Posts

It has been suggested on the stream that Gunpowder Rounds will become AOE. Gunpowder Rounds were previously the strongest damage non-planar non-affinity single target round.  Edit : To differentiate it from the DreadStone Round, it's not enough for the Seedshell Round to just do high damage.

So, as a new stuff to fill that niche, I propose "Seedshell Rounds" which use Seedshell as a material. Since Seedshell is moderately hard to collect, it will not be the cheep strongest option and it will be balanced.

It also includes my personal concern that if we don't mention Seedshell this time, it will never be in the spotlight in the future.

seedshell really does need something to justify seeking it out instead of just being a thing you get additionally. right now i constantly forget it exists because people don't use it anywhere that i have seen

I remember that seedshell itself has a small range of aoe, right?

If it is really used in the bullet shell, its damage should be quite considerable and with aoe, considering that it is very difficult to obtain.

I was on the fence about that... The niche I wanted was a "Strongest damage non-planar non-affinity single-target round", and adding AOE to that would make the current Gunpowder Round a backwards replacement, and even without that, they would compete.

But since both gunpowder and Seedshell are AOE to begin with, it would be unnatural to make both of them single-target. So I think that if the Seedshell Round wasn't a spiky ball like SeedShell, but a bullet shaped like a thumbtack, it will not feel unnatural as a single target...

But, well, SeedShell Round should be spiky boll because would be intuitive, and the spiky Ball just looks cooler... Hmm...

Even so, dreadstone is still easier to obtain than seed shells pre riff.

Definitely, you made a good point (It's shame I forgot about the DreadStone Round). If to differentiate it from the DreadStone Round, it's not enough for the Seedshell Round to just do high damage.

Adding an AOE is good, and also I think it would be good to give it a special effect that is differentiate it from other bullets and powerful enough as the effort of obtaining the Seedshell worth it. Here are some examples.

  • The spikes are difficult to handle so it takes a long time to shoot, but it does the more damage than any other round in terms of DPS. Considering that it is difficult to obtain Seedshells than other rounds, it is good that it also uses less ammo.
  • Every time you shoot, the spikes injure Walter fingers and damage his, but the round's damage is very high.
  • Like the original Seedshell, it flies in a parabola, so it takes a long time to hit, and moving enemies will avoid it, but the round's damage is very high.
  • When it hits, the spikes shoot up, and rain down after a delay. Therefore, if the target does not remain at the hit location, whole amount the damage of that round will not be done.
  • Upon shooting, it shatters on impact and shoots spikes wedge-shaped forward. It is a powerful shotgun round but requires a certain amount of closeness.
