WenericMember Posted November 29, 2024 Share Posted November 29, 2024 With the dev cast finished, and as I won't be able to participate in the beta after the weekend, this is (probably) my last chance to give fully informed feedback on the progression of Wendy's skill tree. Best of luck to everyone else pushing for improvements, I hope these trees release in the best state they can all be in. As of the dev stream, this is the state of the Wendy's skill tree. My thoughts: Alignment skills are in a practically perfect position. Lunar offers a more self sustaining playstyle for Abigail, allowing focus on more traditional combat, while Shadow doubles down on the existing method. Both good paths. The upgraded elxir tag is also a good way to ensure their relevancy. The sisturn, vengeful ghost & Pipspook branches are in similarly good states. There's no need for changes there. The custom Eulogy is some nice flavour to the headstone skills, but with Wendy losing custom crafts for dark petals, the later tiers really need a buff, along with some fixes to prevent griefing. To build upon the idea of Wendy being able to create some sort of sacred ground, maybe give an additional buff to the area around decorated graves, such as a sanity aura, wildfire protection or something else. Also, please consider condesning Moving & Creating headstones into one skill, as skeletons are a bit circumstantial to create new ones on their own. The potion line is significantly improved over its original version. Moving the potion container to tier one is a big improvent, and the new potion is great too. It allows Abigail to reduce the punsihment of dying, while not completely removing the downside. It's a great way of smoothing out the difficulty curve. Doubling the duration of potions is a fair trade (although maybe swap tier II and III), but I think the tier 4 version could use some improvement. We're already given a skill that almost doubles potion production - Pipspook quest III. One of the two skills could use a rework, as they aren't both necessary. Team Spirit could use a few small buffs - the mentioned RNG buffs to haunt in stream (alive players have much more to do than dead players), but also the first two tiers should make their animations cancellable for Wendy. Currently, while in boss combat, Wendy currently has to completely retreat to safely use them, making their use pretty limited. Finally, I'm not entirely sure the terrorise skill fits, as Abigail already dominates most of the mobs its effective on. While we have no idea what the replacement skills for the dark petals line are, I'm looking forward to seeing them. If they're conceptually interesting, they could really round out the tree. Finally, I want to say that while there's still a number of changes to be made, it's starting to really shine. Unlike when it launched, I reallly have to consider what I want to spend my insight on, which makes the tree so much more fun to engage with.
