opinions on Wendy's skill tree post stream

  • Once again, further moves in positive directions are shown.
  • Alignment skills are in a pretty much perfect position right now, and a balanced method of adding double potions.
  • I think with the additonal crafts for dark Petals being removed, the Gravestone line needs some additional perks for further tiers other than nightmare fuel.
  • Blessed Sisturn IV is a nice QOL addition
  • Team Spirit is a pretty good line overall, but it needs to not lock Wendy in an extended animation for at least I and II, while Panic could be buffed a bit
  • First 2 tiers of the potion line are great, but they do fizzle out. I wouldn't mind tier 3 being some filler for a powerful skill, but while doubled potion production is good, we already have doubled pipspook rewards in the pipspook quest skills
  • The skill tree is looking to be a lot more insight intensive, which is something it was missing before, and is good
  • If the replacement to the dark petals line is good, I think the tree will end up in pretty good spot, but those skills do need to be something interesting, not just filler.

 

Seems great. Learning the Murder action buff stacks makes me really happy because that's the one I was going to go with 100% regardless if it was good or not. Still have an issue with graves requiring to be placed on skeletons, which is impossible to make more of in a solo world with instant server reset if you die (ie Hardcore mode). And there are a few more skills to be added which I am interested in seeing, hopefully it is not too op. I am SUPER happy klei didn't allow multiple potion stacking but instead has the Super Potion so you get one of the regular ones plus the affinity one. Love that.

So far Wendy's is looking great, still not as barebones as I would like compared to Wolfgang who got minimal new stuff, mostly just stat boosts but it's not crazy like Willow, Wigfrid, or Walter.

Yeah, it's a good compromise. While it would've been better two have full twinned potions than nothing, it probably would've just resulted more healing being spammed.

I really like the direction they're taking, explaining "here's why we're gonna keep this skill, this was our creative vision" instead of just appealing to the fanbase. I just don't understand as a developer why they're adding a skill to craft double the amount of elixirs, and don't like as a player that they kept gestalt Abby's transition locked to full moon and new moon. I mean, it makes sense thematically, but it's a big bummer. At least with shadow alignment I'll still be able to get something in return from murdering stuff in my inventory, just like the good old days of Don't Starve. Anyway, those are the two main complaints I have, the rest is fine, they adjusted all the numbers and kept the fun and interesting skills.

I'm happy with some of the new things they added, however I was looking forward to sharing head armor with Abigail, though I understand both getting hit by an aoe would shred your armor it would have been nice with post rift helmets.

The thing is compared to getting 300 extra health that only lasts until she loses it isn't much better. It already takes a LONG time to charge the 300 extra health at the cistern and nor even longer for the additional 300 totaling 600. I would have rather just repaired the helmet in 2 seconds and had similar effective hp/

I think graves need a buff due to the lost synergy with the Dark Petals Skills, but other than that I agree with you.

I'm really interested how they'll replace the Dark Petals line. While they could've gotten it working with a bunch of new crafts, I'm glad they were willing to ditch it entirely to allow for creative freedom.

I think it's mostly fine. They seem to be designing Abigail to be more agile, but less of a face tank. The new gesalt Abigail & Potion seem to be pretty healthily designed, and if they fix up the team spirit skills I think her surviavibility will be in a good spot.

it would mostly be for suitability for shadow alignment. Lunar Abigail is in a great spot now

Maybe, but both alignments are in a good state as they are. Shadow being offensive and lunar being defensive.

I hope they can have something more interesting, more interaction with Abigail and more playability, rather than just making Wendy stronger by boosting stats.

About potions: I've always wanted more fun potions, but the fact that there are only two or three of them that are useful makes the potion jar seem less necessary.

About the urn: Is the urn removable, like a chef's pot? Is it possible to put more filler in it to achieve a different effect, like a flower petal?

About Abigail: Is it possible to make a potion that resurrects Abigail in some way, similar to Maxwell's Shadow Man?

About Shadow Line: Is it possible to improve Wendy's ability to deal with shadow monsters? For example, so that Abigail can hurt Shadow Monsters?

In the stream there is a potion that levels her up to level 3. Her health is scaled acordingly to her proportional current HP. so if she just died and goes back to level 1, if you heal her up to full via Spectral Cure all, then use the new potion, she will have 600 hp again. Given the spectral cureall heals 20hp per second, it will take 8 seconds for her to reach 150hp before applying the new level up potion.

As mentioned in the stream there are alternatives to gather nightmare fuel via the Big Spooks producing Evil Flowers (4 dark petals = 1 nmf at a prestihatitator), when in combination with her bonus of lesser sanity drain, this seems to be an alternate method Klei wants to see Wendy acquire nightmare fuel giver her damage debuff. Shadow creatures are meant to be a downside of wendy as she cannot deal with them effectively (when unmounted on a beefalo) compared to others.

That wasn't really the question. The question was more so could we show some continuity in Wendy's goal to revive abigail, by reviving Abi who can act as a maxwell shadow puppet.

I still wish to see Abigail's defence buff against bosses. Abigail should considered as a planar entity, or at least she should receive player damage! Considering her relatively low max health Receiving multiple damage from bosses or clockwork rooks feels a little too harsh to manage her health. For example, compared to Willow, ruins rushing as Wendy feels quite frustrating since the clockwork rooks literally melt Abigail down, and she can't help anything for Wendy taking care of all the hordes of nightmare creatures with her feeble 75% damage multiplier. I can't try any other ghastly elixers in such fights too because I should apply Spectre Cure-All all the time. This buff deserves to be considered as essential for Wendy!

Also, the cooldown of Abigail feels really restrictive to me. I understood the cooldown on Willow's affinity flames but I can hardly find a reason to give Abigail such a looong cooldown. Is moving Abigail as I want really that strong? I don't know.. I badly want the Wendy cooldown to be gone!!! Or drastic decrease, at least. Except the "Scare" skill. It deserves to have cooldown.

if they are only giving Abigail regular planar defense the armor sharing works with the shroud as it makes up that difference that planar entity protection provides.

Abigails cooldowns need to be shorter.

And the fact only the lunar and shadow potions can stack is funny Just give us unilateral potion stacking klei.
And give us more utility potions LIke bonus light Or something.
