Hundreds and hundreds of mods

yeah tbh there needs to be some sort of clean up, or dare i say, a restart, for the steam mod library.

its soo dam bloated by random ass anime characters for example.

that like 3 people use or whatever.

Neither of these are better options than leaving it as-is.

Option 1: A "restart". Tons of fully functional mods that still work despite being abandoned get purged for no reason and now they're basically just gone if they don't get reuploaded, which plenty wouldn't. This'd also be pretty much unprecedented in the history of Steam workshops anywhere.

Option 2: A more selective purge. This runs the risk of upsetting people (because those "random ass anime characters" are actually enjoyed by some players, and some have lots of subscribers), but more importantly, it'd be a lot of work on Klei's part. Do you know how many mods there are in the Steam workshop? 18,530.
How long would it take Klei to test each one to see if they're still working, or really make any kind of decision on whether or not to keep them? However long that takes for one mod, multiply it by 18,530.
And, no, automation of the process through AI isn't some magic fix even though people suggest that for everything these days. AI is really, really stupid and makes mistakes constantly.

The better option for the Steam workshop would be a more comprehensive tagging system that allows us to search for mods that affect specific items or characters ("Amulet", "Woodie", etc) without relying purely on search algorithms that seem to barely care about what you search for, but that's not something I think Klei can do since that'd be on Steam's end to implement and would fall to the modders to actually use.
