katarinagray03
My personal views on Wendy's skill tree as a Wendy main as of November 22, 2024 (First Beta released). I've been playing Wendy for 3 years or more, as far as I can remember, and this is what I think about her skills. I've waited for a very long time just for my Wendy to get skill trees, and I would like to discuss the good part and then the bad part for her skills. Just to let you know, these are the things that I've noticed while testing Wendy and Abigail in Beta. If there's something that I've missed or that needs to be corrected. Please let me know, and I'll humbly listen. The Good Parts: The Strong Brew Skills is definitely something that I would like to have. It's not really a must-have since it's only a good use for the Spectral Cure-All and the Nightshade Nostrum. The Dark Petals skills 1 and 2 are very interesting; the fact that you can use Abigail as armor or health makes the character more interesting. I can see a lot of potential in that skill, especially when fighting bosses with a single target such as a dragonfly or moose goose. Pair it with the Spectral Cure-All, and the Strong Brew Skills make her invisible for the next 2 days. The Vengeful Ghost is okay-ish. I think it's nice that you can be helpful as a ghost for your friends for a short period of time after you died. The Pipspook Quests—I really love this skill since you're able to get around 18 mourning glories per pipspook. It makes farming mourning glories easier. The gravestone skills—I do love the fact that you can now move gravestones or create gravestones for yourself. It's definitely something that we finally have. The fact that we can create our personal dev gravestone farm and bring it to my base is something that I've been wanting for. I can also see a potential use for the grave beautification as self-protection from the hound waves. The team spirit skills—I love the fact that I can see Abigail with other animations! I've been liking these skills and would like to test them further. Lastly, the shadow and the lunar skills. Let's discuss the damage. I haven't tried the planar defense for Abigail, but feel free to let me know if you guys have tested it. Lunar Abigail without the Luminous Wrate elixir. During the day: 15 damage to punching bag. 12 damage to Shadow Boxer. 13 damage to the lunar boxer. At dusk. 25 damage to punching bag. 19 damage to Shadow Boxer. 20 damage to the lunar boxer. At night: 40 damage to the punching bag. 29 damage to Shadow Boxer. 27 damage to the lunar boxer. Lunar Abigail with the Luminous Wrath elixir. During the day: 20 damage to the punching bag. 19 damage to Shadow Boxer. 17 damage to the lunar boxer. At dusk. 30 damage to the punching bag. 26 damage to Shadow Boxer. 24 damage to the lunar boxer. At night: 45 damage to the punching bag. 35 damage to Shadow Boxer. 32 damage to the lunar boxer. I like the Lunar Allegance III for Abigail as it serves for bosses. I love the fact that it deals 150 damage to enemies, and I can see some potential with this skill. I also love that she's sometimes invisible to prevent from getting hit. Shadow Abigail with or without the Cursed Vexation elixir. The Shadow Allegance III is cool. The fact that it deals 80 AOE damage makes it somewhat useful. Unfortunately, I'm not able to test the sisturn's skills, as the game tends to crash whenever I attempt to put a petal inside of the sisturn. I would like to test it out as soon as it has been fixed. Overall, I think that I like that she's finally getting some love. I really enjoyed the beta testing. Now, let's talk about the bad part or the downside of these skills. The Strong Brew Skills. Again, I really like this skill; it's not that good or bad. The only thing that I can use it is when I'm using the Floral Shroud and the Spectral Cure-All while fighting single target bosses to gain more health and prevent dying. Overall, it's not really that much of a big change, as I can only use it for Spectral Cure-All and Nightshade Nostrum. My thoughts about the Luminous Wrath and Cursed Vexation are really not that good as the Nightshade Nostrum. Maybe I'm judging those elixirs too quickly, but after testing them out, The nightshade nostrum is still greater than those two. The Dark Petals skills are ridiculously expensive! I mean, there's really no other way or there's no easier way to farm dark petals from the beginning. The only way to obtain those petals is by getting lucky with the low chances of getting it from the tumbleweeds, the limited spawnable dark petals, or by haunting flowers. 4 dark petals and a mourning glory just to convert it to a single normal petal is ridiculous! The floral shroud is also too expensive, as the shroud itself gets rotten so quickly! I really hope that there will be a decrease in the amount of dark petals. I hope that you can change 1 dark petal to 1 normal petal without the mourning glory. I also hope that they will decrease the requirement for the floral shroud. If not, please give Wendy access to farm dark petals much easier. The fact that it's too expensive makes it hard for me to craft it. The Pipspook Quests skills. Again, I don't have any complaints about this since I do believe that this is the only best part of her skills. The Vengeful Ghost skill doesn't really make any changes since you're only able to deal damage for a short period of time after death. It's a nice additional change, I guess, but I will never unlock this skill since I only play solo most of the time. The gravestone skills. I really liked it, but it's really that much. As a late game player, I really cannot see using it in late game. I can see that I'll be able to use it at least once for the pig farm. For the grave beautification skill. I can see some potential with this skill. For example: hound defense or to prevent bats from spawning from cave holes. Also, I've noticed that the ghosts only last when there's flower petals available. I wish that the ghosts can spawn like how Rabbits and Pigs spawn from their houses without the needing of flowers. However, it's still useless since Abigail is designed to help you out with hound waves and the bats. Like, you can just rile her up and she'll deal with those alone. The team spirit skills. First of all, what's the point of adding Team Spirit I? The fact that you can unsummon her makes it the same thing with this skill. It's useless. With the Abigail Dash, I can see some potential with it, but I wish that the range is longer. I also hope that whenever you send her to that area, she stays there. I've noticed that even if she's riled up, she slowly comes back next to Wendy. The Spooky Skill—I really don't see the point of this skill other than a party trick. What's the point of scaring mobs? I can see that it's something similar with Willow's stunlock ability. Like, I love that Willow can burn a mob and just hit it until it's dead. With Wendy, they only get scared for a short period of time. Lastly, the lunar and the shadow skills. Again, like what I've mentioned, I don't use other elixirs for Abigail other than the Spectral Cure-All and Nightshade Nostrum. The Lunar and Shadow elixirs are just useless elixirs. Maybe it's too early to judge it, but I really don't see the point of getting these, as the Nightshade Nostrum is still better than these. With the Gestalt Abigail skill. I really liked that, and I think it's cool. But the fact that the only way to change Abigail back to its normal form is too hard. I wish that there would be an easier way to turn her back to the ghost form. The shadow skill is awful! The fact that you need to murder a mob just to deal 80 AOE damage is way too much. I just hope that there will be another idea for her shadow form. Overall, my thoughts and how I felt for this beta are really upsetting. I was so disappointed and so sad. The fact that I've waited for so long for my Wendy to get a skill. I was so excited when I heard that she finally got skill trees, and it was changed quickly to disappointment. Klei, if you can hear us, Wendy Mains. Please make more changes and add more things to her skills. I understand and I know the fact that the company is small. I am thankful and grateful for the game that you guys made, and it's definitely part of my life. I just really wish that you guys can hear our voices and help us to spend more time on your game. I cannot let this happen, as Wendy has been my main character since the very beginning of buying this game. If you guys can hear me and would like to hear my suggestion, I have some ideas that maybe will help with some changes. Wendy deals less damage alone. I really wish that there would be a skill to get rid of this. There are some bosses that you cannot fight with Abigail, and if you do, it will not result in a good fight. I know that she can have a beefalo, but I'm not a beefalo player; I tend to enjoy playing her without any beefalos. I also hoped that on her skills, you can apply atleast 2 to 3 elixirs for Abigail and that will makes a lot of changes. I was sad that this was not on the changes. Maybe you guys can reconsider it. Abigail cannot fight shadow creatures. I was hoping with the Lunar Skill, she'll be able to fight nightmare shadow mobs. When I was new, I was struggling with nightmare shadow, and I would love that she'd be able to fight those creatures just like Bernie. I wish that there's more into the Team Spirit III. Instead of making the mobs panic, I wish that the haunting mechanic is added instead. Like how you haunt things as a ghost. I wish that Abigail can haunt things and change items or mobs. Like how you can turn flowers into evil flowers, change pigs to werepigs, force to spawn the spider queen, change the hounds to a fire hound or ice hounds, have the chance to cut trees when haunting them, change mushrooms to a different mushroom, and do any other cool things that you can do as a ghost in DST. I really hope that you guys won't release the beta update for Wendy, as it's not as good as others. I've been playing Willow lately since she's personally my favorite after her skill tree, and I was hoping the same updates will happen to Wendy. Thank you for reading. Have a nice day! shengrufuyou
I've played Wendy for thousands of hours. If this is the final form, I probably won't play the game again. WenericMember
Is it really only 80 damage? If so, Wow that's absurdly awful in comparison to the Lunar skill. Abi already does good AOE damage, so I was expecting something in the 100-200 range at the very least. 5 minutes ago, katarinagray03 said: My personal views on Wendy's skill tree as a Wendy main as of November 22, 2024 (First Beta released). Unfortunately, strong Brew doesn't affect cure-all, only the day long potions. The grave skills aren't primarily meant for ghost spawns. They act as Evil Flower spawners apparently, and presumably a way to make pipspook spawns more convenient. Is it really only 80 damage for the shadow Aligned skill? If so, that's absurdly bad compared to the lunar skill, especially due to AOE already being something Abi does well, and the immense inventory cost of carrying live creatures. Yessss to more haunt supporters, welcome aboard. Whether or not Wendy can cause haunt is really going to make or break her skill tree imo. Mea2
Thank you for providing insights on Wendy's skill tree. I absolutely agree with your suggestion on the Lunar skill, since Wendy's 75% damage is difficult to protect her from shadow creatures, especially for beginners. For Shadow skill, I recently came up with an idea: Soul strike: Wendy occasionally instantly kill a weakened enemy that Abigail besets. The instant-kill probability increases as the enemy's HP decreases, starting at 20% HP. (When killed in this way, the enemy does not drop any soul.) katarinagray03
For the Spectral Cure-All. I was about to say the Revenant Restorative since the Spectral Cure-All only lasts for 30 seconds. My bad about that rant. I thought it's effective for that elixir as well. Turns out it's not.
