Friendly Fruit Fly - Deadly Brightshade Updated

All the updates are very exciting for me, but there's one thing I find very challenging about setting up a crop farm—Friendly Fruit Fly is too easily killed by Deadly Brightshade.

Of course, there are many ways to find vegetable or alternative food sources without setting up a farm, but farming itself is something I find very enjoyable in the game (the crop models, fertilizers, and weather mechanics).

Brightshade Gestalts can’t infect any plants within a radius of 7.5 tiles from an existing Deadly Brightshade from the previous wave, but this current radius is too small, even for a mini base. And Friendly Fruit Fly dies in just one hit from Deadly Brightshade.

I hope there will be an update to improve farming in the future. Some suggestions are to increase the radius to 20 tiles or allow Friendly Fruit Fly to enter caves.

can't you just summon lord of fruit flies in caves for a fruit fly there?

This is new information to me. Now I can farm crops in the cave. Thanks for your info.

It's an idea but for a vegetable farmer it's not fun. :wolfgangstache:

I have an idea about item could be a powerful tool for players who want to focus on farming without worrying about being disrupted by Brightshade Gestalts. Here are a few additional suggestions:

  • Crafting materials: It could require items like Pure Horror, Dreadstone and Dark Tatters, or 1 Ancient Fuelweaver and Toadstool drop.
  • Active effects: The item might emit a peaceful shadow aura that repels Gestalts while gradually reducing the player's Sanity if they stay too close.
  • Limitations: To avoid being overpowered, this item could have a limited duration or require rare resources to recharge.
