I hosted a private friends only game and a public and they couldn’t join either one. We also made sure our games were updated, closed and re opened, and even restarted our consoles. We can join random public servers though. Remove the option to pause the server for whoever creates the world, and try again. Or, if you don’t want to remove it, just ask the other player to start collecting items while you log into the server.
