At this rate there should be a small part of the cave (or even a new area) where's the big worm is GUARANTEED to be. If you wanna fight it, then go there. If you don't want, it's OK.

To be fair, the worm is also optional in a sense, leaving it for a couple minutes it despawns. Which is what I do because I'm not wasting my time and resources to get 2 red gems and 12 bone shards.

Considering the Giant Worm's specifications, this is really what they should be.

His destructively, nukely, and terrain-dependently specifications is extremely inappropriate and stressful as raiding mob. If they had made him a stationary boss and adjusted his HP to be similar to other stationary bosses, he would have become a "new fun danger."

It's interesting that Klaus is also that but he is held in high regard.
Along with storing the items he swallows internally instead of digesting them, it would be better to have him act as like the underground Klaus(Especially for blueprint of Reinforced Support Pillar).

It could be great, but the caves are so lacking in bosses it's probably not worth doing it. Imagine, the only bosses down there are Toadstool, Spider Queen, (possibly) the Malevolent Rabbit King (but even this dude is elusive as hell so like idek man), Nightmare Werepig, and of course our resident Ancient Guardian and Ancient Fuelweaver.

And obviously FW's loot should not be included into the possible loot table cuz he's the 'final boss' of the shadow side. So that leaves us with 5 bosses only.

Nah, hounds give gems and meat for like 2-3 darksword swings, they're okay. Also hounds teeth for repair kits.

Regarding that, I don't think it's necessary to make the rewards only from boss drops. Just in my idea, gems, fossils, ruins booties and gear(Especially The Lazy Explorer), "Gears", Shroom Skin, Tentacle Spots, Guardian's Horn, Dread stones, chess piece trinkets, etc. It would be nice if they could drop some randomly and balanced. At least the current drops are too worthless.

Also, well, It could add a new item specifically for him or bosses will be added to the underground in the future?

Some come at you. You can ignore them afterwards but you needed to interact a little with their spawn mechanic instead of being a boss waiting for you to come with 4848372 armors and 9k healing... they could also improve how seasonal bosses spawn to aggro players instead of brainless roaming but i can hear the cries if that ever happens

Every update they add atleast 1 damn optional boss.... worst, they are starting to add optional shadow creatures like rictus and the ink trio nonsense...is awful

Look, I hate that too. This game is NOT boss fight simulator #64950 yet Klei did it anyway. And to be honest, I kinda get why they did that, cuz players will improve their combat skills with every gaming session, and it will take just a moment before they realize pressing F is boring.

But, other parts of the game NEED fixing more. And the fact that Klei barely does anything memorable in the caves, when there was a chance for it, is really saddening.
