Swiyss Posted October 6, 2024 Share Posted October 6, 2024 What if when in the ocean at day 30, instead of deerclops simply not spawning - the idea is him roaming the land and you "encountering" him - he would spawn in an iceberg searching for food in the ocean nearby. Getting close would trigger an ocean fight with him in that iceberg (10 to 15 tiles iceberg), throwing ice at you to try to take down your boat. We would then be able to trigger this ocean fight with a hostile flare in the ocean while it's winter (replacing the pirates at winter). For bearger in the ocean, he would instead be found (at the deep ocean, at any time in the first and subsequent autumns, taking in consideration he hasn't NORMALLY spawned yet and is not roaming land alive) in a Giant Abandoned Ship, eating the remainings of the crew that was once in there, with his head stuck in a compartment. Hitting him would trigger a fight in the Giant Abandoned Ship itself, we're talking about a 10 to 15 tiles ship. While you fight him, the Giant Abandoned Ship starts to break with each step, and he would not have his fourth attack. If bearger spawns normally on land (on second autumn) before we get to him on the deepwater Giant Abandoned Ship, we would then find the remainings of that Giant Abandoned Ship close to a random shore, but without any special loot (just driftwood), half broken (way smaller, like a regular boat size) and with a few driftwoods around, I'll call this one Broken Abandoned Boat (Klei could fit some jokes here definitely). If there's already a Broken Abandoned Boat close to shore, another Broken Abandoned Boat (and Bearger) would not spawn until the first one has been looted/broken. Looting the Giant Abandoned Ship after killing bearger would spawn 3 pirate ghosts, and the ship would start sinking. Looting the Broken Abandoned Boat setpiece would also make that it sink, but only 1 ghost would spawn. Now, the discussion about Crystal Deerclops, Possessed Varg and Armored Bearger is by simply making a way to fight them before the rifts are open. By either killing each of them on the lunar island and making them transform into possesed variants (possible at day one, just kill any of them on the lunar island) or by killing them on land normally but while a full moon night event is happening. Of course, if the addition of the "pirate variants" of the two were to be implemented, it would also imply having to make a second fight with each of them, which sounds kinda time consuming. For the Possessed Varg, just add suspicious dirt piles at the main lunar island. We would find the Possessed Varg already at the end of the trail. But the suspicious dirt piles at the lunar island (variant) would only spawn if the Armored Bearger and Crystal Deerclops have already been defeated in the world. The benefits of these additions would be very welcomed, especially with more ocean things getting added into the game. It would be a very great way to loot a whole bunch of driftwood logs, gems and rare items (on the bearger deep ship) if you get to the ocean and search for bearger instead of waiting for him to spawn. Bearger could be found in the first autumn, making him killable before day 71 (Basically the setpiece can be found at any point in the game from day 1). This would also explain how he got to the surface (and deerclops). And it would be a perfect way to stop bearger from spawning any further without having to let one alive out there at a random place in the surface (by simply not destroying the Broken Abandoned Boat in the shore), cause it would make that part of land inhabitable (sure you can telelocate him to the little islands in the lunar archipelago, but I think that's very player dependent and has little to no interesting mechanics behind it). Adding these things would show that Klei cares about what we want (like killing bearger before day 71, we've been asking for ages). And the Brightsmithy kit would be accessible before opening the rifts and killing the Celestial Champion. Now, don't get it twisted, it would not be easy to accomplish having early access to the Spark Ark items. You would have to fight the Lunar Bosses before acquiring Brightshade Gear, which is not an easy task. However, it would be a great opportunity to use planar damage and defense on Characters Skill Trees. What do you think?
