SpomJ
Introduce some randomness into the ol' and boring skylight and space radiation. Solar eclipses Eclipses are a lighter form of solar events. What an eclipse does is decrease skylight and radiation, to the point of being pitch black. Is a caution for people relying solely on solar panels. Solar flares The chaotic part of this. The skylight and space radiation increase (maybe even too much). This may inflict unexpected radiation sickness. Most extreme cases may lower the max wire wattage (although this should probably be on outer planetoids only unless the difficulty settings are applied). General Solar events are created randomly, like meteor showers. The average frequency at which they happen is a subject to balancing and difficulty settings. They happen at the same time on all planetoids. Their stats are duration and intensity. Intensity is subdivided into light and radiation. The way of computing randomness here is probably tweaking normal distribution, in both cases. The discovery is 3 days per planetoid (so the more planetoids you have telescopes on, the more time you get for preparing) The values should probably be decided in this way: generate duration (RNG from capped ND) generate magnitude (=duration * intensity) (also RNG, ND can be uncapped on max diff for absolute chaos) compute intensity (magnitude/duration) separate intensity into skylight and radiation (probably also add RNG salt) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160012-solar-events/ Share on other sites
Cmagik
Regarding Solar Eclipse... what do you eclipse with? There's just vacuum with some rocks floating. The flare make sens and would work neartly. It could actually be exploited for some crazy radbolt generation. However beside Solar Flare there isn't much that can be done.
