Request/feedback warly skill tree

Recommended Posts

A recurrent suggestion for Warly's skill tree that i think will be more harmful than beneficial is to have increased stats from food.

Warly's downside punish you from repeating too much the same dishes but you can actually eat the same dish 2 or 3 times in a row and still get a good enough benefit. Usually you dont need to eat more than that to be at full or in a good spot for each stat. If, for some reason, do you need to raise a lot your stat (like being at really low sanity or health) is when you look after high stat dishes like ice cream for sanity or surf n turf for health.

If warly gets a stat boost would only mean that players would have less reason for cooking diverse dishes and stick to few ones unless the downside for repeating dishes is increased.

I think a proper and fun skill tree would be one that forgets about buffing regular dishes but to buff his thermal dishes, add new spices or completly new dishes

Some ideas could be:

- longer effect for weather resistance dishes,  damage from volt goat jelly or light from the glow berry mouse

- also extend effect from spices

- new spices to get planar resistance and damage

- a dish made of pepper that gives burn on hit. (Or maybe a flamethrower coming from his mouth like in cartoons. Could work like a mini willow's moon flamethrower that burns enemies while is able to swing the weapon)

- another dish that gives freeze effect arround him or on hit (like in the cherry forest mod)

- a dish made of garlic to lose aggro from enemies

-  spice or dish to give a small speed boost

- knockback resistance dish/spice

- spice made of pure brillance that makes you groggy but you get the same AoE cloud with sleep effect than the gestals from the moon rift

- spice made of dreadstone that damage you overtime but makes you be surrounded by miasma

- some perks to cook faster like increasing the speed from crockpots, faster pickup animation from crockpots (its a chef, he has experience putting food in plates) and even a chance to get double rations from a single recipe

- maybe a dreadstone oven to put stacks of ingredients to make stacks of dishes

- something like Wilson's meat perk to cut large meat into morsels

I think a stat boost for food would work if it only applied to dishes that he doesn't remember, and that aren't the last thing he ate. This would also encourage eating a variety of meals instead of several of the same meal at once. As it stands, he doesn't really make up for the heavy downsides of his diet outside of specific scenarios, so I think a buff like this would be fair.

But how would it incentive eating other foods? Lets say you get 50hp from a pierogi why i would eat other thing if the 2nd pierogi would heal me 45 if the downside isnt changed? As i said, you can already eat 3 dishes and get good stats...buffing the initial stat only makes his downside easier to manage

I can see the change you are suggesting if the downsides becomes more rough but other wise would be just a buff that removes the impact of his downside

basically you the more variety you eat, the more buff you get from food, so you can eat some bad stat food like kabob or even wet goo to boost your healing dishes

It's not a straight buff to the stats, it only applies for the first meal

Any ways. You get 50 in the first and 36 in the second... still more than enough to dont need to eat a different dish...

Still. You can already repeat dishes without problem, buffing the stars, even for the 1st one only, just makes his downside a joke. To add this the downside needs to be stronger
