Moongleam has a shelf life of 60 days by default, which is close to a full year in the default game setting. At the same time, neither type of item has a very broad use in games. For the vast majority of players, Moongleam is only used to make Lunar Siphonator, and Spore is used to decorate the Enlightened Crown. There is little need for additional collection and preservation.
