Maxwell Skill Tree ideas

Recommended Posts

First of all, I would agree that Maxwell is already in a decent spot so I would avoid adding perks that would make him stronger and instead focus on just adding variety to his gameplay. Let's leave the combat upgrades to characters who are actually behind.

Firstly- all characters would need planar damage to their kits so of course Maxwell should also have one. The obvious way is to add planar damage to his duelists, but that might make them too strong or too difficult to balance. Instead, my idea is to have a separate summon which is this inkblight guy:

Mechanics: summons an inkblight with high hp and planar dmg attacks and defense. summoning inkblight will remove all existing summons and will not allow maxwell to use his other summons while it's active. inkblight will also drain sanity every second, but maxwell will also be immune to sanity regen, sanity food, positive and negative sanity auras while it is active. nightmare creatures will also ignore maxwell during this period. Once Maxwell's sanity reaches zero, inkblight despawns (also can be despawned manually). Inkblight's dmg and atk speed will also be affected by shadow gear maxwell is wearing. Summoning inkblight consumes 3 pure horror. (note: this can be his shadow alignment skill)

Next - Shadow pool: a new spell where maxwell turns an area into total darkness. All shadow aligned players in the area will gain movespeed but will be as if in total darkness (charlie can kill them if they do not have a lightsource/ nightvision+ drains players' sanity). consumes 5 nightmare fuel to cast.

Next - a new craft: shadow king throne: crafts a structure that looks like a throne where any shadow aligned player can sit to recover (can be sanity or hp, devs decide what is better). The throne protects a certain radius where nightmare creatures will not attack players in said radius. (might notice I made an emphasis on him supporting other players who choose the shadow side).

Next - passive skill: allows maxwell to be followed by reanimated skeleton without needing thurible, and forest skeleton can attack similar to cave skeleton.

Others: I might update this post if I tihnk of other stuff, I was thinking the book can have a sort of upgrade, but we'll see.

In general I'd simply love to see, IF ever show any interest in his skilltrees to make the codex umbra actually look like a book on shadow magic (there sure must be more to this book then splitting your mind and the other two functions that seem to be combat-advantage and (seriously I have no idea what the butterfly thing does but description of it here). I'm sure Maxwell should have had enough time by now to decypher the book's content WHOLE.
