Sacco Posted September 18, 2024 Share Posted September 18, 2024 Some time ago i was thinking about how to make sanity more interesting/challenging. Except from the addition of new shadow creatures i thought about an entire new mechanic called "The shadow curse". How it works is that when you get hit by a shadow creature you will be cursed, what it means is that shadow flames (like ancient thurible ones) will come out of your body and you'll lick some shadow like substance on the ground, which would slow down anything (except shadow creatures) that touches it. Every character will tell something when getting cursed. While you are cursed (a couple of seconds) you'll lose hp over time and you'll deal a bit less damage. But there's no counter! You might say, but what if i told you if you wear a shadow related armor the effect from the curse will be reduced?! There's more about the curse, because you'll be able to apply it to enemies (no shadows obviously) and apply the same effects to them with shadow related weapons and character specific abilities, it'd also deal more damage to lunar aligned mobs (Wormwood included). Some more in depth stats/features: - Every character would say a quote when getting cursed (examples): Woodie: Another day, anotehher curse Winona: Charlie, is this some trick of yours? Wendy: Finally, my end is nigh WX-78: ERROR: SYSTEM DECAYING WICKERBOTTOM: Must be some sort of an ancient curse WARLY: I hope this curse won't spoil my food! - Every shadow creature, including bosses (chess pieces, Fuelweaver, ancient guardian phase 2 and his tentacles, Nightmare werepig? and so on) will apply "The shadow curse" for a different amount of time (e.g. crawling horror 3 seconds and terrorbeak 5 seconds) - You'd lose 3 hp every second (4 to lunar aligned enemies and Wormwood) and deal 10% less damage for the duration of the curse. - The slow down would be very minor, like 10%. - Wearing a shadow realated armor will reduce the effects of the curse by 50%. - At low sanity (35%) you'd be able to inflict the shadow curse with weapons such as dark sword, reaper, maul and bloomerang, but the tentacles from thulecite club and CURSED rounds would always inflict the curse! - Maxwell's duelists would apply the curse too, but only if you are wearing all tier 3 shadow items, so you wouldn't unlock it instantly when joining the game. - Old Wanda with her clock would inflict the curse too. - Warly's grim galette would give you immunity for 4 minutes to the curse. - Wurt's shadow merms would apply the curse too, the same goes for Winona's shadow FUELED catapults and shadow BERNIE! too. - If Woodie chooses the weremoose affinity or shadow affinity curse's effects would be reduced by 50% while in wereform. - Sleepy time stories woould temporarily stop shadow creatures (15 seconds?) from applying the curse. And that's all! I think an addition like this would make sanity and in general shadow creatures more interesting to fight. It would obviously make them harder, but at the same time you can take their power and use it against other enemies!
