Rewilding DLC

Recommended Posts

I know this is futile and nobody will read, but I just had to get it out of my system:

Minecraft is the gaming learning tool of choice for many schools, but surely ONI is a much better tool to teach schoolchildren about climate change, science, cause and effect and even society's needs at large. I mean it already simulates temperature, gases and germs and each of those has probably crept up and ruined the game for most first time players and then you learn to manage them (unfortunately for us, though, we only have one planet Earth). But also, the game allows you to go slowly and use the natural wild life and plants to do most things (including temperature management) if you don't just mindlessly dig everything out in the beginning, which is an amazing stealth wisdom that's snuck in there!

The one thing missing to complete the learning theme is "rewilding". So far, the only way to rebuild nature is by boiling algae, and that seems like an exploit rather than another potential wonderful learning experience.

Imagine instead a "rewilding" focused DLC (perhaps with more underwater ecology too) and together with that, one could push ONI to be used more in educational facilities. Perhaps even with special educational starting presets with shorter learning goals?

Imagine if the first thing player's did in ONI wasn't to clear cut, extract and excavate everything, but rather tried to figure out how to built a minimal base in harmony with the existing biomes instead?
