This happens with any "Legacy item". It always gives me the "Missing mods" screen. Other mods work just fine. I think legacy items are mods that go to "Don't Starve Together/mods" instead of "322330/2039181790". When this happens, I've noticed that the part saying "Workshop version: " is always empty.

For some reason my friends could join that server just fine without issues

Not sure why but, whenever this happens, the "Server version: " always shows up correctly as the same version as the one on the workshop. But the "Workshop version: " part always shows up blank.
This makes me think my computer is failing to properly check the steam workshop for the version or something. But if that's the case, why does this only happen for legacy mods?

very confusing

That does sound like an odd problem. My first thought is that there might be a problem with your game specifically if you're the only one experiencing it. I'd suggest you try verifying file integrity and see if that helps at all.

unfortunately I verified several times before this but it didn't work

Hmm. If verifying doesn't work generally the next things to try are redownloading your mods or reinstalling the game and running it without mods.

Backup all your mods some place else just in case then clear out the actual mod folder. Steam should redownload them for you when it notices they're not there. I don't know if it's the case with DST, but I know other games on Steam have changed the way they store legacy mods recently and it's caused a few issues for some people. If that's the problem then redownloading them should fix it.
