Should permanently dying in a long played world give you a reward?(Idea for rewards)

  1. 1. Do you think permanently dying in a world should give you loot according to the length survived with no cheats, mods, or customization of the world? (100 days = 100 spools/bolts )

    • Yes
      9
    • No
      3
  2. 2. If yes, what reward should you get

    • Yes, and maybe klei could add a new currency, like survival experience that you can trade for rewards.
      10
    • Yes, but it should give Bolts
      0
    • Yes, but it should give Spools
      2

An idea I have for the Klei rewards is that maybe when you die, and the world resets, the days alive could give you a minor reward if you did not play in an Endless/Relaxed/Custom world, sort of like dying in Don't Starve, but with Don't Starve Together currency instead of xp.

The image is what I think it could look like.

I suggested something similar a while back!

Glad someone else is thinking along the same lines as me.

It only makes sense, the singleplayer dont starve rewards death, DST rewards rollbacks.. its abit sad really.

Not when dying. That encourages losing.

maybe based on the number of days survived minimum 10 when the world get lost so people cant just spam dying to farm

also each setting changed have a point multiplier so endless barely give anything while light out give a lot of point

No, i mean encouraging players to throw away their work on a thousand or so day world is a bad idea. You'll no longer be playing the game for fun, you'll be surviving until the optimal day for dying which will be figured out in the first week, then people will do nothing but a single strategy to farm these points instead of play the game.

Maybe also it could be like days survived giving the points and dying could give a multiplier (e.g 1.25 or 1.5) before you close the world, so all the time that you live could help you gain more, and the minimum time to start gaining points is ending the first season because it is the easiest season to survive.

Anything that rewards death is a no-go. You already get rewarded for playing with the in-game drops, I think this would just add more AFK farming and overall just be a meh addition. An example are the skilltrees, almost everyone i know just did c_skip to get them immediately instead of farming for them. If this is patched and its purely days survived, that could be a welcome addition in my book. Might want to integrate spending them into the game itself so people without the knowledge of klei account systems can use them.

So you basically want to add a battle pass to DST that rewards players just for staying alive?

that would be complicated to add because, you can alter world Gen settings (no hacks, cheats or mods necessary!) to do things like disable darkness and temperature effects.

world settings could have point multiplier, so harder world give more and world where you just afk give almost nothing

The problem is, you can set up an AFK station with Webber to last essentially forever no matter how hard the world settings, leave it on for a week then die and get points.

Maybe if you stay AFK or move in a straight line for 5 Clock segments, you enter an AFK mode or it just auto pauses the game for you.
Also instead of dying to get the points every 10 Days alive could give you 5 spools and dying could take a percentage away; like if you die 5 times in said world, you'd only get 50% of the spools from then on in that world. theo55140's idea of the difficulty settings could also be used as a bonus even though the spools/day could be really low if you have bad luck with the timed drops and get the same loafers or oxford shoes.
