I even asked on these forums if it can be done and got a promising looking reply which didn't work which makes me realize it's completely impossible! It's so stupid that I either can't play on my world if I have no internet access or I can't play with my friends on my world FOREVER. It's so horrible that such an important basic feature is not in the game for years.......
