The Killer bot

They say years ago there was a machine born not of circuits and wires, but of something far more sinister. Long before the modern WX-78 units, there existed an older, abandoned model from the same line, left to rust and decay. This model was reputed to be far more deadly than any of its modern successors.

They say these killer bots haunt only the most savage worlds, where the sun never shines and the skys bombarded with rainfall. The landscape is littered with the skeletal remains of those who had fallen at their hands, their final moments spent in terror, fleeing from the metal monstrosity that pursued them relentlessly and at great speed.

The dark lands were cursed with perpetual rainfall and lightning. With no umbrellas or raincoats for shortciruiting it fears not. Armed only with an axe this killer robot thrives being stronger, faster, and more relentless in the storms.

A warning that they are near is static noises, a sign of its presence. When you hear the crackling of static in the distance, your time draws near. He is coming for you. Yet, the static is not the only sound that signals his approach. Sometimes, in the heaviest downpours, you must listen closely for a ticking noise for each tick reveals a fleeting glimpse of the murderbot's cold, mechanical sight in the darkness, a brief flash that send shivers down the spine.

But don't worry too much. Nobody has seen this model of robots for years. The stories of its existence have faded into myth, told around campfires to frighten the new recruits. Perhaps it is just a legend.

Or perhaps, somewhere in the deepest, darkest corners of the darkness, it still waits, powered by the storms, waiting for its next victim. So, if you ever find yourself in those cursed lands, and you hear the static or the ticking within the rain, remember the tale of the killer robot. And pray it is just a myth.
