Some concenr/maby bugs with new scramble dlcs feature.

First of all, I want to say that I really like the idea of this feature. It can spice up your game by mixing up maps, and if done properly, it gives interesting scenarios like "what if the water asteroid was frozen." It also gives access to DLC content without starting on the same planetoid over and over again. Unfortunately, it has some significant problems. The asteroid remix is sadly broken/bugged and can destroy your world generation. The main problems are:

  • The settings remove all geysers and volcanoes from the randomly selected planet.
  • It removes meteor showers from the asteroid and swaps them with icy nectar meteor showers.
  • It resizes the asteroid.
  • Sometimes they spawn without plants or creatures (the main point of the setting).

All of these things generate very specific problems. Screenshot #1: The spaced asteroid is the regolith one, but there is no regolith meteor shower. The asteroid lost one of its main features. Screenshot #2 and #3: They show the size of a normal grassy moo asteroid and the size if it's the one that got swapped. I personally like the change as I love bigger maps, but it might have some unknown consequences. The general size of the map got bigger. The game might be slower or worse. (I personally like the change, but it might have some problems, e.g., if there are some bigger than average asteroids, they might go smaller.) Screenshot #4: The Moo asteroid without a chlorine vent. The asteroid lost one of its iconic features. I am going to assume it is a bug and later on it will be changed so that both original and DLC vents and volcanoes will be added. If not, the setting will create more unwanted planets that you will not settle. Screenshot #5: No life on the asteroid, no plants. The main selling point of the DLC is not in this world generation.

Now to the biome remix problems:

I have seen the new biomes spawning in the magma biome. It by itself can be a problem, but knowing the problem with abyssalite not always correctly blocking heat transfer, you can really easily get an ocean biome instead of new biomes (see screenshot #6).

The new biomes have the same problem as with the feature above; they occasionally do not spawn creatures and plants (screenshot #7).

I also noticed that there are no buildings that appear if you start on this asteroid. When I was playing, they unlocked access to new stuff, so I am not sure if it is possible that players will not be able to access things like a new burner. (I haven't had time to check it, and I am not sure that I want to with the problems listed above.)

I want to say that I really like the concept of this feature, but it needs some work. If it is to be released this way, I would advise players to use debug mode to check your planets or you might get an unpleasant surprise later on that will ruin your save. With that said, full respect to the devs. I love this game, and I am so happy that it is getting new DLC.
