what if I don't like skill trees as a whole?:crushed:

I have mixed feelings about the skill trees as well, in the sense of that I don't like to get used to gameplay change for my favourite characters. but I try to force myself to think of them as optional. (which makes little sense I know, but I doubt the skill trees will disappear now that they exist) But I understand your unhappiness about the skill tree thing.

But are forumites people? Doubtful.

I'm literally a failed scientist [former science student] like Wilson so I suppose this counts.......but then I forgot that I am also a tiny sheep. Woolie [Wilson] person? Anyway I also agree it's important to know the people working on this [AND EVERY] game are humans and therefore as a fan one should never forget how much work and people's minds / creativity / knowledge went into it, even into small or bigger details that we may NOT like / wouldn't have changed. And to me Klei sounds like those who actually mainly have their players in mind [why else would this forum exist? Why else can you play DST quite "cheaply" if you ignore cosmetics or DLC characters?] You still can have the "whole" game, and have the DLC characters as your teammate and benefit from their abilities.

It simply has a more sensitive way and the right time to complain or suggest changes, without sounding rude. It's always good to remember how amazing the game has become over time and that the things we probably disagree with are a minority and when put on a scale it's basically nothing compared to the whole. By the way, I saw Joew super excited to answer as many people as possible in one of the update threads recently and I remembered why we are still here 10 years later supporting them and loving this game.

Additional curse-treas would be sweet to have! Especially when the "temptation" to add a curse would be extremly high, with the downsides maybe showing after a kind of delay (but still making it so that you can't remove the curse before the delay kicks in)

It could be a sort of thing that gets worse over time like an illness?

Imagine hunger drain ramping up to a max of +33% at day 100 or so

DST is the game that got me around for the most time irl so far  even counting with my childhood ones, which means we got some good mix and magic here, props to that

I miss more of the terror cuz the way they do art mashing cartoonist with those vibes was just pure art for me but still really good POV nonetheless

And in general knowing they love this and doesn't want it to end just like us is really heartwarming

Klei is a BASED company, one of the few companies that I have seen actually paying attention to what their players have to say, its legit amazing how discussions or threads here can end up influencing the game, this is way too rare in other games or atleast not at the level that I have seen in DST

I enjoy the skill tree system a lot, Even though not everyone's cup of tea. They have a lot of potential and I'm wondering how they may end up revisiting them in the future to expand and add more skills (Leading to more variety in gameplay hopefully!)

I love the fact that they try mix the skill tree with some newer player friendly skills while also adding skills that can change the playstyle of a character and be more for veterans.

My favorite thing is how every character is by far truly unique. Wurt with her amazing merm followers and king, Winona with her machines, WIllow with her pyromancy, Wickerbottom with her books, ETC. It really brings to life just how much each character can bring to the table in a single session... And there's no workarounds for "X character at home" especially now with winona's update turning her into something much more than a character you swap to to setup farms, Now she brings major value to the table if you have one in your server. Same with wurt and her amazing followers. I truly hope they do nothing to diminish the value any of these characters bring to the table by giving generic access to their unique perks in base game.

The biggest traps devs make by far is having all the characters tend to "Blend" together by giving them similar/reused/reskinned skills while they have 1 unique thing to them... Which usually isn't as important to cause you to choose one character over another for gameplay purposes (Unless you are metagaming ofc) or the skills end up becoming so majorly bland that they barely change up how you play the character at all. Big example is azerite in WoW.

Finally I love the fact that they listen to player feedback and implement changes that just make sense, Too many devs alienate their playerbase or don't even bother to listen. The amount of changes we've all seen them do for this update to try and improve both winona's and wurt's skill tree and gameplay in response to everyone's suggestions has made me go from being a bit dissapointed with their skill tree to absolutely ecstatic when it comes to launch tomorrow. Not to mention all the improvements to crab king fight so it's actually a fight now! Way better than just rowing around till ice phase using panflute and holding F.

i really like how klei thinks about the weird little outliers and tries to come up with contingencies, sure only like 50 people are going to lights-out farm but for us 50 catcoon horks are invaluable, sure it is easy enough to just smash a fence that is facing the wrong way but the fencing sword is brilliant all the same, of course a  maxed out campfire will get rid of that mini-glacier, of course you can use poop to extinguish smouldering things, of course you can haunt a mushroom to change its typing, of course you can haunt a pig to turn it into a werepig, of course you can have a day of non-heat light by putting lightbulbs in endtables, of course, of course x''D

thankyou klei<3
