Cuernito.
First i have to say that i have been a winona main even before the first rework and i just want the best for the character so im gonna try my best to give a valid criticism and some ideas to improve this skill tree. Im gonna talk about the nerfs, the bad, the good and some ideas to improve the skill tree. Nerfs. I think these nerfs are a mistake and are not intentional but i still need to talk about them. Sleep mode of catapults. This is making the catapults being worst than before unless you have a handy remote, right now the sleep mode is base kit, that means even if you dont have any perks all the catapults are going to sleep after some time of being placed, this is horrible, imagine you are being chased by hounds and instead of just using one nitre or one gem into a generator to activate all your catapults now you have to "arm" the catapults one by one... this new feature make winona really dependent of her remote, and this was not only a nerf to winona herself but to every other friend you have in the server that wants to use the cataputs now have to arm them one by one, you could say that this is not that big of a deal since catapults are more used into farms or to kill bosses but this is still a nerf. And you made it again klei, instead of making winona have some good perks to help the team you nerfed the catpults so now only winona and her remote can use the catapults like before... Movil structures. So now with this perk you have to craft the structures first and pick them up from your inventory and place them, this is a tiny nerf that makes players waste more time than before setting catapults and generator, not a big deal but i have to point it cause i actually felt the extra time invesment when i was playing. The bad stuff. Too many meh perks, there are 10 perks into her skill tree that dont really add much to winona gameplay, the 6 perks to buff catapults with more speed and more area of impact, the efficiency perks and the hotlight. I agree that skill trees should have some meh perks like 2 or 3 but 10 perks that are meh is too much. The thing that bugs me out the most is the fact that winona has her skill tree full of perks for the frikin catapults, better call her skill tree the catapults skill tree. And i think this is wrong cause the catapults were really strong before this skill tree so they didnt need any buff, the only structure that most people talked bad about was the spotlight not the catapults. Now Winopult is all about catapults and how they can be buffed even if they were fine before. Let me explain this with an example: before the skill tree the catapults could kill most of the bosses without much problems, the only bosses that can't be killed with catapults are klaus(cause the deers can die), crab king(before this update the claws could destry catapults easily grabbing the boat and the catapults attacked CK while freezing by my ice staff) , CC( cause you know he is very destructuve) and the twins(cause they are very good at killing hordes of mobs or catapults), and after adding all the new buffs to catapults guess what, they are the same, you can kill the same exact bosses like before the buff so no helping at all. I have to say that i never used the perk to pack and move generators and catapults in my play, i usually just make my camp near a big rocky area and make a lot of catapults later, so the perk to make all winona`s things movable is useless to my style. The good stuff. The handy remote is easily one of the best addition to the skill tree. its feels good to use even if you dont move for a sec during the animation of the control. The wagstaff is good too but it sure needs some buffs here and there, it is a shame that winona didnt get anything new just wagstaff copies, but even so its great to have new gadgets i guess. The charlie powers are really great, my fav so far, you can even have second chance without losing your stuff, is really powerfull but i feel its still missing something, maybe a new machine that works with nightmare stuff would be good. The nightmare fuel and the pure brillance powering generators still feels incomplete so i dont have anything to comment here. My ideas of how to improve this weird skill tree: All the rapid fire perks should be fused into one, the same to more area of impact perks and the efficiency perks, the hotspotlight perk should be added to another perk im going to talk down here, they all are not that great into seperate shards but fused together can be good. Now this would add some space(8 new slots) for new perks, and i think perks that can change winona gameplay should be considered, right now winona doesnt have anything about her crafting abilities and is so annoying cause she is not good at getting big amount of resources so i think she could be good at resources managment, and remember that all her crafts are not cheap(the catapults 15 rocks each plus she needs tons of silk and grass) so i think about this: Crafter novice: Every 9 crafts the 10th craft is going to have a 25% less cost. Craft expert: Every 9 crafts the 10th craft is going to have a 50% less cost. Crafty skilled girl: Every 4 crafts the 5 craft is going to have a 50% less cost. Industrial hands: She can choose to craft 1-10 items as fast as one item(the discount still aplies). Remote spotlight: now the handy remote can be used to put a spotlight light over one spot(you have to click with the remote over the spotlight you want to activate, after one click the spotlight is going to arm, then you have to click over the spot you want the light to stay, the spotlight is going to stay like this until the generator run out of energy or you use the remote again to turn off the spotlight. Rainbow spotlight: now the spotlight is going to change the color of the light depending of the generator and the fuel is using. special effects: if you are using only blue gem or gems the spotlight is going to cool off players(usefull at summer). If the spotlight is taking energy from red gems is going to warm up players. Gems afinity catapults. Now i dont remember if the devs said into the stream that diferents gems are gonna affect catapults in any way but for now we only have pure brillance catapults and pure horror catapults, with this perks i pretend to give more variety to catapults attacks using the gems already exist, but the gemerator has to have only of the same color gem or gems to work, if you combine gems is not going to give the buff to catapults anymore. Blue gems: the catapults use snow balls to attack, they make less damage per hit but slow down the enemies(only 4 catapults can use the buff per gemerator). Red gems: makes an extra fire damage to enemies, its just a tiny buff to damage(only 4 catapults can use the buff per gemerator) Green gems: create tiny vines like wormwood that traps the enemies for some seconds(only 2 catapults per gemerator) Purple gems: they only give more time to gemerators, do not affect the catapults. Yellow gems: the splash attack create sparks of light(6 catapults per gemerator) Orange gems: the catapults attacks confuse the enemies(2 cataputs per gemerator), Iridescent gems: every spash damage attack heals you by 20 points, the catapults now target you instead of enemies(only 1 catapult per gemerator is going to be affected) Now im gonna talk about some QL changes and more i think winona needs, Winbot: i dont know if you know this but the winbot after all the job is done he goes back to the first spot you deploy him, this is really good cause you can deploy him into a generator energy area so every time i deployed the winbot after some time he was recharging energy by his own but the bad stuff is every single time i have to pick him up and deploy him again, it could be good if the handy remote has the option to "arm" the winbot, so i dont have to waste much time pick him up and deploy him every time(he runs out of energy really fast). The vines bridge: this should stay there for at least 5 days, remember that every time the rose glasses are used you have to wait one day to used them again and this ability is really bad if only last 2 seconds, 5 days could make this more apealing and maybe the ability to create vine bridges into the caves(this makes much more sense btw, charlie is supposed to be stronger inside caves not in the surface) The teleporter: more range and the ability to transport items or players with you(maybe giving it a bigger radius of teleport) The bossman advanced loot boxes should give pure brillance to make the gemerators perks more apealing. Charlie new machine: i think the charlie side should have at least one new device, a knowledge that chalie drops only in some dangerous parts of the caves and allows winona to turn the normal generators into nightmare shield generators, these new generator are an upgrade to the normal generators, the range circle is bigger and is able to make a shield that works against shadow enemies, this shield protect an area of shadow enemies(no bosses included) like shadow mokeys and the shadows inside the ruins area. it could be great to help new players avoid being killid by shadows, of course everyone can use this device. Wagstaff side. A new winona device that is not a copy of wagstaff stuff. This should be the ultimate thing winona thinks herself in base of bossman devices. A new giant ant like robot, created using a Gemerator and lots of scraps the telepad and telebrella, pure brillance, gears and elecrical doodads, this robot only uses pure brillance as fuel, and can be planted on the floor to be used as a gemerator, has some inventory spaces(6) and moves at 75% the speed of normal character but have the ability to teleport to random palces into the map creating portals like the ancient hulk from hamlet dlc. This could be great for an ultimate devide that winona makes using wagstaff stuff and you can only place catapults and spotlights into the 6 extra slots. And thats it, I know devs say that theres still some stuff they are gonna add to winona skill tree but right now after playing from the start with winona and getting all 15 perks i can say that her skill tree is a bit boring, atm is not really great, maybe i was expecting too much as a winona main but to tell the truth right now im a little disappointed. ZeRoboButler
Yeah, the catapults not waking up, when a creature is wooping your hide is a bit wack. I love the idea of spotlights being infused with a color, could lead to some interesting stuff late game with the crown shards and the colors placed within (heck this could be an opportunity to introduce infusing crown shards with gem colors or properties) really does expand the potential for the lights rather then just flood lights, which are nice don't get me wrong.
