Malfario
First by saying this, i understand klei wants the ocean to be a place that rewards exploration, a place in which you design routes , harverst resources as you find them etc. I am not oposed to this, in fact i like this aproach, i mostly prefer it, not only in dst, but in any survival/sanbox game when resources can be harvested naturally as you go and do other things instead of making farms for it. That being said, The main problem with the ocean is that there is so much space between the actual content, that exploring does not feel rewarding in the slightities, it literally just feels like waiting, waiting for the content to finally show up. The solution given to find the monkey island is magnificient, because you still need to explore the ocean to find it, but it feels rewarding, you are following up the trades of the monkeys, its fun, engaging and an extremly elegant way to solve the problem. And so the question rises, Why not more ? Waterloged biomes could grow the drift wood roots in a large area around them to show case they are near (this could also be the way for locatable renewable drift wood). Salt formations could have broken boat pieces apear around the salt. Sea weeds cant have a diferent looking kelp growing in an area around them. These are just ideas i like to give, but so many more could be implemented, maybe specific types of fish that only apear in range of the byomes for example. Overall i just want to keep the trend going, this aproach is fantastic and i hope it can be implemented to most of the other byomes.
