Nightberry Nerf w/ Warly Dish

Recommended Posts

Obviously, Nightberries are a rather game-breaking thing, since they basically give night vision powers regardless of character specific perks (like Were-Wilba, WX night vision, etc). I suggest that they should drain sanity, and their effects should end at either 50% or 15% (The point of nightmare creatures becoming hostile), as well as after their current timer (which is shortened). They should also yield less, or expire faster.

Warly can make a new dish using Nightberries and Glow Berries that removes the sanity drain of Nightberries, causing it to only end on the buff timer (which is of the current length). It might also cause the eater to glow, as Glow Berry Mousse does. This will help make the berries more reasonable, as you need to be a certain character to make them useful without serious consequence. It's also a Warly buff that gives him more utility.

They seem to be between mid to late game. Monkey ships aren't that difficult to take on, and all you have to do is claim a few chests. I think regardless, they should have some more drastic drawbacks, so that character specific options are more valuable, and that the berries are a definitely weaker but universal alternative

You have to roll an RNG chance for treasures probably several times and then grow a tree and I'd be very surprised if anyone ever manages to do consistently this before late-winter, at which point anyone could have crafted moggles or gathered lightbugs or hell they could be a good decent way towards enabling moonstorms already. It's useful sure, but let it be useful rather than nerf an item that already requires going to Pearl's island and then all around the ocean for treasures and then back to land and then waiting for a tree to grow and then you get like 3 night vision berries to share among all of the players in a server.

moggles?

Moggles require you to not wear head armor, which for the most part is taken up by stuff like football helmets. It leaves you totally vulnerable to lots of damage, which is a fair tradeoff. I imagine that nightberries would be used in combat situations like ruins, not having to rely on light at all anymore.

Lightbugs can also be killed. I also doubt it would take that long to grow, and that you'd only get one seed. I suppose changing these variables could help make it not as powerful

you only fight AG and 2 bishops near full station in ruins, they'd be worthless there, lantern is much better, idk what'd you even want night vision for considering that most things that you'd want to find in the darkness have map icons or, in case of ruins clockworks, you can know where they are judging by the setpiece, e.g. 8 statues 2 bishops always has 2 gemless statues closest to bishops
