Crab king should drop an item that spawns sea stacks for sea weed farming

Recommended Posts

Sea weeds and barnacles are abandoned to dst users.. for a very long time.

There's two main reasons why the sea weeds (and barnacles) are underrated. Firstly there are too much preconditions to harvest barnacles safely. In general the barnacles can be harvested only at night, only by using a razor. Secondly you cannot move the sea weeds to the place exactly you want to plant them. You need to find the closest sea stacks from your base which can be possibly quite far away. Furthermore the sea stacks are currently not renewable.

For solve the first problem I've suggested some idea that allows the players to use the shadow reaper to safely harvest sea weeds at day, long time ago. And what I wanna suggest here focus on solving the second problem of sea weeds. The upcoming ocean QoL includes the Crab King rework, so I think it is a good time to introduce - The Reverse Strident Trident - which allows players to spawn sea stacks at will as a new crab king loot. The crab king attacks the players by spawning geisers. And this was implemented as the strident trident which allows the players to spawn small geisers underwater. The boss also is thematically related to rocks and stones, so I suppose giving his loot table a tool to spawn sea stacks is lore-wise enough.

The artificial sea stacks can mainly be used for sea shore sea weeds farm, but it can also be possibly used for ocean decorations. Or even the devs can introduce new wobster den regrowth mechanism with this tool, similar to how the tallbird nest works. It would compensate the tricky requirements to harvest barnacles if the sea weeds farm is close to base! There are a lotta possibilities lie down here.

I feel like doing this ruins barnacles and turns them into another generic easy base food resource, making them sorta mindless. Everything cant be accessible from base.

They did it with bananas, they shouldn't do it for barnacles too. Barnacles just need buffed dishes and much slower spoilage timers to be decent. We can already make boat bridges around them. Its a fun option players can optionally choose for food if they put the effort.

If we just want sea stack renewanility, the sea weeds can be unable to be planted in shallows, and only deep oceans like normal.
