molivious Posted May 19, 2024 Share Posted May 19, 2024 Just throwing out a fun idea since there might be players like me (that might have friends with the same tastes) who want to play the game as-is without worrying about the grind but at the same time want to feel the challenge and progression of this game's entire package. This mode is heavily inspired by traditional roguelikes, where each dungeon run contains its own progression and absolutely nothing in that run carries over to your next run. You start a random dungeon at f0 with basic armor and a weapon rack containing the 4 basic weapons. Loot is boosted to aid progression for this mode. For example, Corestone drops are twice the current amount. Visit markets to buy new gear and upgrade gear with your loot These pieces of gear have randomized effects, e.g. A Yammo weapon with Floracrane's Dive Beak skill and Groak's hitstreak extension passive. After defeating each boss, difficulty increases by 1 and you are dropped into another dungeon (random). So you could have full runs that look like: F0 Molded > F1 Nocturne Grove > F2 Forest > F3 Bog. A full run ends after defeating 4 bosses. If the runs give any reward (wouldn't make sense for a roguelike, but people will surely complain), then it depends on your progression. They could also add masteries with claim rewards (including titles) for completing each boss segment of the Roguelike run. This draft has some flaws so it needs work, like starting with no gear and not having enough resources to buy and upgrade gear could be a problem within the first and second dungeons; and at the same time a full load of 20 maxed-out powers from the beginning of the last (F3) dungeon might be too overpowered even without armor involved.
