Wurt deserves a better skiltree

So far, they said we'll get mosquito fertilizer, and some minor heals.. Which... Sucks. 

 

As a wurt main, I'm gonna say, she has 2 major problems. Her setup taking literally forever, and guards having a weakness to anything that does splash damage. Those are 2 huge issues that make Wurt bad, and should be fixed in the skilltree 

 

Klei, PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU. DONT MESS THIS UP. add some community suggestions instead of useless fertilizer. I beg of you

She needs no combat buffs really. Merms are already great fodder against every boss (think of them like gunpowder that deal large potential damage, and give you resources instead of costing them as they have good drops). Mostly just utility, and combat sidegrades/options if combat was to be a thing.

Honestly it's not really enough of a payoff for the effort in their current state for combat and they're only going to get worse as post rift scaling intensfies though I'm hoping the planned "smarter" ai helps with that.

A strong fertilizer that greatly speeds up crop growth would be awesome.

The main strat for wurt is to rush lunar island for kelp stalks or stone bushes to feed yourself forever but this is more of a pro strat.

Casual players might have a much harder time trying to keep wurt fed and to have excess veg to recruit merms so any buffs to farming is only a good thing.

it can be done with a boat and a paddle because rocks are barely a threat if you arent going 50 km/h

She should have farmer merms instead. Wurt quotes imply she herself is not into farming.

That's just not true all her farming quotes are either neutral or slightly positive

It looks like they dont get what we want for wurt. But to be positive the things theyve shown dont look that bad, the farming stuff could help her farm for durian and them using  mosquitos encourage you to stay in the swamp. I wish they would just add some new merm variants to help make the merm villages feel more lively

reminder that we were only shown a snippet of the skill tree theres a merm civilization section to her skill tree and the developers have mentioned that wurt will get a perk that makes her merms smarter, you can't really just ask for a better skill tree just because of one/a couple minor perk(s)

i think the main issue is more like "Really, THATS what you're showing us?" and then every item is kinda garbage.

It doesn't give a good impression for the rest of the skilltree.

Because it wastes a skill slot.

Mosquito fertaliser, and mosquito bomb can be available for all survivors instead.

sure, but that's not what most of these threads are criticizing
klei was just showing what they're done with and i think its fine remember we have 3 weeks + a beta period
i was really surprised that they decided to do the stream this early, and i honestly appreciate that they're keeping us informed instead of the radio silence approach a lot of games undergo

I kinda wish they told us some stuff. We only have some random mosquito stuff to think about, which take at least 5 points, without including the potential for the other non-bomb items to have teirs.

Skilltrees normally have 26 total.

But after that she is one of the best. There should be variety on playstyles. Some characters are really good in early like woodie and others are better in late like wurt and warly

If everybody feels the same then there isnt a real choice. Is part of the fun and the balance even if some arent balanced like maxwell

Take wurt preparation as a "challenge" about trying to rush her max power over other kind of tasks

Also she is good in early, you have plenty of merms in the swamp without needing to build anything and gets extra nutrients from veggies making you lose less time gathering food with how abundant are veggies in the default settings balanced for maaany players

Maybe they showed it because was the first thing they finished since,  roughly, the bomb is basically a mix of bee mine code+throwing code from the boot or the BS bomb and the fertilizer is just a resking of whatever fertilizer with changed values

The problem is Wurt doesn't really benefit from farming people have complained about this for years but there just aren't good crockpot recipes that don't use meat from farm crops with dragonpies really being the only exception you are legitimately better off growing berries, eatting cactuses, or raising bees than you are farming as Wurt so it really doesn't make sense to give her a fertilizer when even Wormwood players rarely use their's for farming and he can eat everything.

it's kinda too late to keep playstyles from blending as that's already a line that's been crossed with how much perk overlap refreshes and now skill trees have brought into existence. I say rather than one of the best Wurt is more so average or abit above average when compared to the rest of the cast but hopefully her skill tree can flesh out some more unique but useful advantages of her own to make her stand out in her own way.
